Fact

‘And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God’ Ecc.5:19.

The fact is you are rich so stop saying that you have nothing. If you earn fifty thousand naira monthly, you are among the top 21% richest people in the world. There are 6.7 billion people in the world so you are richer than 5 billion people. You are rich! For you perhaps, fifty thousand is what your husband gives you as your weekly allowance and you are complaining. God will forgive you. Say amen. The truth is you Read the rest of this entry

How To Be Rich

Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment’ 1Tim.6:17.

Over the next few weeks, we are going to be learning about How To Be Rich. Note, we are not learning how to get rich but rather we are learning about how to BE rich. This message was originally preached by Andy Stanley and then by Craig Groeschel. I find it very interesting and apt for where we are right now so we’re going to go learn how to Be rich together. The Name Of Jesus

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the FatherPhil.2:10-11

I remember years ago, I was comparatively a new believer. There was a man fully possessed of demons, the demons were speaking queens English, and he was very violent fighting everybody in the room. He said to the head of the prayer unit of the church at the time ‘you are a witch’ and she kept quiet. And he looked at my friend and said ‘you did not pray last night’. He was afraid because he really didn’t pray. All Read the rest of this entry

All-Powerful Name

‘This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds… and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel’ 1Sam.17:46 [NIV]

Goliath did not just die when the stone hit him. Yes he died physically but David won the battle when he came against goliath in the Name of the Lord of Hosts. In the New Testament, Paul was admonishing us to do everything we do in the name of the Lord. Why is Paul saying that? It is because it is in the name of Read the rest of this entry

In The Name Of The Lord!

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied’ 1Sam.17:45 [NIV].

The conversation with goliath. The fifth conversation David had was with goliath. You must have a conversation with your problem [goliath]. Have a conversation with the chest pain or fibroid, talk to it. As the conversation started, goliath went all spiritual on David. Goliath said, “Do you think I am a dog?” and David must have said “Of course you are a dog. In fact, you are a big foolish dog!” The Bible did not state that but my imagination takes over sometimes. Jesus was saying to the woman that was not Read the rest of this entry

Consider This II

‘Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine’ 1 Sam.17:40 [NIV].

Five is the number for grace. The analysts tell us that the average human being is seven and a half head high. But giants, from nine feet to thirteen feet, are nine head high in comparison. So David had an eleven percent chance to hit goliath’s head. Is that slim? Pretty slim! The Bible says that goliath had a helmet of bronze, so it reduced the space that the stone can even touch. This reduced David’s chances to Read the rest of this entry

Consider This I

‘Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine’ 1 Sam.17:40 [NIV]

There are a few interesting things that I want to bring to your attention. Firstly, Saul gave David his own armor. But after trying them on, David knew that this was not going to work for him so he took it off because he had not proved them. Then David looked at goliath and deployed innovative thinking. If you remember in the story, David said to Saul, the Lion came and I killed it. I held it by the beard and killed Read the rest of this entry

Covenant Right

‘Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the Living God” 1Sam.17:36 [NIV]

David in his conversation with Saul did another remarkable thing. He moved the conversation and made it a covenant issue. David said, “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the Living God?” 1Sam.17:26. Let’s stop for a moment and look deeper at what David was referring to by using the word “uncircumcised”. The token of the covenant between God and His people is circumcision. ‘This is the covenant that you and your descendants must keep: Each male among you must be circumcised. You must cut off the flesh of your foreskin as a sign of the covenant between me and you’ Gen.17:10-11 [Please read the entire Genesis 17]. What David was saying in essence is that goliath does not have a covenant with God. All the other Jews, the Israelites that were running and hiding, didn’t they have the same covenant? They all did but David was activating his own covenant. The covenant is useless if it is not activated.

If you are a Christian, everything Jesus did on the cross is available for you and it is available now not tomorrow. But if you don’t activate the covenant it remains useless. To David conquering goliath was a covenant issue. He said this man is not circumcised and because he is not circumcised, he is not under the covenant. And because he is not under the covenant, he is inferior to us. Let me bring it home, you are bidding for a job and someone that is not saved is bidding for the same job and it is a job you should have. Who should get it? One of the keys to getting it is you need to go to God and activate your covenant. This is an uncircumcised person, I am a covenant child and this belongs to me. It belongs to Your Kingdom and fight for it from that perspective. So it is very risky to be living life not being saved – very risky. Which is why if you are not born again, today is a good time to get born again, or you the may become a causality of many things. The devil gets angry and he slaps you. You cannot challenge him because if you do, he can increase your punishment. You cannot call on God because you don’t have access. I mean you are just in a mess. But the Name of the Lord is a strong tower and if you will run into it, you will be safe.

Prayer [song]: You are my strength when I am weak. You are the treasure that I seek. You are my all in all. Seeking you as a precious jewel. Lord, to give up I’d be a fool. You are my all in all. Jesus, Lamb of God worthy is Your Name (2x).

God Confidence

‘David said to Saul, “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him” 1 Sam.17:32 [NIV].

The conversation with Saul. The fourth conversation David had was with Saul. Saul sent for David, I am sure he was curious to find out who David was. And do you know the first thing David said when he got before Saul, David said Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine”. I just love David, don’t you? I mean this was the king of Israel; David was being introduced to the king, he didn’t fall on your face and Read the rest of this entry

Tell Someone Else

‘David asked the men standing near him, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? …What David said was overhead and reported to Saul, and Saul sent for him’ 1 Sam.17:26 &31 [NIV]

Be a wise visionary and tell your vision to the right people. He then turned away to someone else and brought up the same matter, and the men answered him as before’ 1 Sam.17:30 [NIV]. Was it that David didn’t hear the first time? You meet an opposition in your vision, maybe you shared it with your brother or sister and you are discouraged. They discouraged you and you just want to sit down there? Just move on Read the rest of this entry
