Found People Find People
‘Jesus said to them, “Come with me. I’ll make a new kind of fisherman out of you. I’ll show you how to catch men and women instead of perch and bass’ Matt.4:19 [MSG]
The second important reminder is found people find people. Jesus found two disciples and said something that was crucial. Jesus said, ‘I will make you fishers of men’ [Matt.4:18-19]. Jesus was saying, I have found you – you will find others [translated]. There was famine in Samaria. There was so much hunger that people began to eat their children. And four lepers decided to run away because the Read the rest of this entry
We Are The Church II
‘Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other’ Rom.12:4-5
Our vision in God’s Favourite House is to be filled with the life of Christ Jesus and released into our destinies, taking the world for Him. The vision of a local church is unique; there are no two churches that share the same vision really. But the mission of the church is the same regardless of its denomination. The church of Jesus has only one mission. Jesus said ‘go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit’. If you are to condense Read the rest of this entry
We Are The Church I
‘But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it’ James 1:25
‘But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey his commands, regulations, and decrees that I am giving you today’ Deut.8:11. As we proceed in the Year, we must remember that God does not expect us to forget all that He taught us in the past. Over the next few days we are going to be highlighting seven important reminders as 2014 progresses. Read the rest of this entry
Indispensable
‘Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Matt.18:19-20 [NKJV].
The final thing Jesus highlighted is the communality of prayer or the plurality of prayer. You will observe that Jesus said, this is how you should pray Our Father; Give us this day; Our daily bread; Forgive us as we forgive; lead us not; deliver us. All the highlighted portions are plural. A major key to explosive results in prayer is praying together. I am an advocate for personal prayer and by God’s grace Read the rest of this entry
Just Stay There
“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened’ Luke 11:9-10 [NIV]
There is so much to learn from the Lord’s Prayer. The third thing is the instruction that Jesus gave, “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you’. The word “ask” is in the present continuous in the original. It means ask and keep on asking. That is all it means. Some people say you pray once and if you pray again about the same issue, it means you don’t have faith. I smile because I actually was Read the rest of this entry
Trustworthy Father
‘But even after all he did, you refused to trust the Lord your God, who goes before you looking for the best places to camp, guiding you with a pillar of fire by night and a pillar of cloud by day’ Deut.1:32-33.
Does God say no to some of the life defining questions we ask? Yes! However you must make it a habit to ask the Father because He alone knows the end from the beginning. On the subject of marriage, ninety nine percent of the time you should get married. It is only like one percent of the time that God will say no. And for that one percent, marriage is not in God’s plan for their life. So for every one Read the rest of this entry
As A Father
“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:11-13 [NIV].
Secondly, Jesus wants us to approach God as a father. ‘…how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” God is saying not only will I answer but we can be sure of the quality of His answer. As a parent, will you give your child a snake instead of the fish he asked you for? It will not even cross Read the rest of this entry
As A Friend
‘So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.’ Heb.4:16.
In Luke 11:1-11, Jesus teaches us how to approach God in prayer. Firstly, you approach God as a friend. Approach God as a friend you can run to when you are in need or when you have an emergency. ‘Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say’ Luke 11:5[NIV]. Approach God as a friend. If you are struggling with this right now or you cannot really say Read the rest of this entry
Prayer
‘And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne’ And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand’ Rev.8:4 [KJV].
God perceives our prayers as incense before Him. Erroneously some people think that means we should burn incense before God. Not at all! Your prayers ascend to God as a sweet smelling savor of incense before the throne of God and that is what the altar of incense represents. Over the next few days we will be looking at prayer and learning how to pray from none other than Jesus Himself. Read the rest of this entry
Not Without Gratitude
‘Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation’ Ps.100:4-5
The third thing you need to know about gratitude is you cannot be all you are made to be without being grateful. In other words, you cannot fulfill your destiny if you are not grateful. Gratitude is very important because it is your environment that determines what grows and what dies in you. If you put a grain of corn on top of your fridge and you check years after, it will still be a grain of corn. But if you put that same grain of corn in fertile Read the rest of this entry
