Knowing VIII

John 1:12 [RSV] But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God”

God is more interested in your character than in your comfort. God is more interested in who you are becoming than in what you are acquiring.  And God gives us a checklist in His Word. James 3:14-17 [NIV, emphasis added] “If you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition… such ‘wisdom’ is of the devil… The wisdom that comes from God is pure, peace loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy, impartial and sincere.” Be more like Christ.

Knowing VI

Rom.8:1 [Voice]Therefore, now no condemnation awaits those who are living in Jesus the Anointed, the Liberating King”

Guiltiness is not next to Godliness! A lot of people liken the feeling of being guilty to spirituality. So many people are used to just feeling downtrodden before God because they believe guiltiness is next to Godliness. Again I say guiltiness is not next to Godliness. That feeling of guilt that you feel when you are about to pray, is not from God; it is the devil. The goal of condemnation is to put you down. The objective of conviction is to lift you up. Conviction has a definite solution; the Holy Spirit will tell you how to resolve issues Read the rest of this entry

Voice Authentication

1 John 4:1 [LB]Don’t believe everything you hear just because someone says it is a message from God; test it first to see if it really is!”

Today, we will take off from a thought we touched on yesterday and that is, that there are three sources of voices that exist. The first source is God. Scripture points out in Job 33:14 For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it.” I pray that you will always recognize God, in Jesus Name.  The second source is Yourself. Unfortunately, people talk to themselves and say God has spoken to them. No, dear brother or sister; you are the one talking to yourself. I talk to myself, I say “why did you do that?”

His Channels V

1 Sam.28:6 [MSG] “Saul prayed to God, but God didn’t answer—neither by dream nor by sign nor by prophet.”

Channel #6: God speaks through Silence: When God is silent it can be really uncomfortable. I went through a season in my life that was as if God kept quiet. I almost went berserk. What I learned from that experience is that when God keeps quiet, many times God is telling you to choose. He is watching to see the quality of your decisions. He Read the rest of this entry

Block II

1 John 4:18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.

Actions speak louder than words, they say. So have your actions been voicing your need for God or have they been stating otherwise? The story is told of a little boy who was deeply upset at the fact that at mealtime, his mother would always stop them from eating just to pray. One day after his mother got back from the market, he said, “Mum, let’s Read the rest of this entry

Proof, Protect & Produce

John 10:27 “My sheep recognize My voice and follow Me” [with emphasis].

Today, we are continuing in our concluding thoughts from yesterday’s devotional. God’s Word highlights many reasons why you need to hear God personally. Jesus says in John 10:27, “My sheep recognize My voice and follow Me” [emphasis added]. So hearing God is proof that you belong to God’s family. The second of the three reasons we are looking Read the rest of this entry

In Love

Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy.  But the crowds were displeased.  ‘He has gone to be the guest of a notorious sinner,’ they grumbled.” Luke 19:6-7 [emphasis added]

For a heart change to occur, the second thing is, I Must Believe that God LOVES me. It is not enough to believe that God is after me because some people think that God is after them to kill them. When some people think of God coming after them, they think of a judge with a big whip searching for their errors and whacking them on the head and on the backside. For a lot of people, when they think of God all they can think of is a taskmaster. So it is not enough to say that God is after you. In fact, if you stop some people and Read the rest of this entry

God Wants You!

“When Jesus came by, He looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name, ‘Zacchaeus!’  He said, ‘Quick, come down for I must be a guest in your home today.’” Lu.19:5 [emphasis added]

Pay attention to what Jesus said; I must be a guest in your home today. In other words, I am compelled to. Do you want Jesus to be compelled to go home with you today? I am here to tell you that God has not given up on you. Jesus is hanging around the tree you are on. In fact, He is shaking the tree and calling you to come down. What do you think that moment was like for Zacchaeus? He was an outcast amongst his people. He had a bad name. He was a short man. But Jesus, the Maker of the heavens and the earth, put Read the rest of this entry

Yes, You!

“When Jesus came by, He looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name, ‘Zacchaeus!’ He said, ‘Quick, come down for I must be a guest in your home today.’  Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy” Luke.19:5-6 [emphasis added]

God is after you. God wants to have a relationship with you. God wants to connect with you. Zacchaeus goes out of his way to find Jesus only to discover that, the whole time, Jesus had been looking for him. Jesus looked at the tree and said, Zacchaeus come down. Zacchaeus must have fallen out of that tree. The Bible says he came down from the tree quickly. That is all the information we have. We are not told how he came down. But just imagine you were the one on that tree looking for Jesus and unknown to you He even Read the rest of this entry

Even You

“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it” Eph.2:8-9

In Luke 18:25, Jesus said, “It’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” Not long after that statement comes Zacchaeus. As you can imagine everybody was waiting for Jesus to give him a show down. Everybody was waiting for Jesus to tell him the story of his life and its fullness or lack thereof. Standing there was Zacchaeus, the same man that climbed the tree because he was too short to see Jesus from the ground. His name, Zacchaeus, means the righteous one. But Read the rest of this entry
