God Wants You!
“When Jesus came by, He looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name, ‘Zacchaeus!’ He said, ‘Quick, come down for I must be a guest in your home today.’” Lu.19:5 [emphasis added]
Pay attention to what Jesus said; I must be a guest in your home today. In other words, I am compelled to. Do you want Jesus to be compelled to go home with you today? I am here to tell you that God has not given up on you. Jesus is hanging around the tree you are on. In fact, He is shaking the tree and calling you to come down. What do you think that moment was like for Zacchaeus? He was an outcast amongst his people. He had a bad name. He was a short man. But Jesus, the Maker of the heavens and the earth, put Read the rest of this entry
Yes, You!
“When Jesus came by, He looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name, ‘Zacchaeus!’ He said, ‘Quick, come down for I must be a guest in your home today.’ Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy” Luke.19:5-6 [emphasis added]
God is after you. God wants to have a relationship with you. God wants to connect with you. Zacchaeus goes out of his way to find Jesus only to discover that, the whole time, Jesus had been looking for him. Jesus looked at the tree and said, Zacchaeus come down. Zacchaeus must have fallen out of that tree. The Bible says he came down from the tree quickly. That is all the information we have. We are not told how he came down. But just imagine you were the one on that tree looking for Jesus and unknown to you He even Read the rest of this entry
Even You
“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it” Eph.2:8-9
In Luke 18:25, Jesus said, “It’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” Not long after that statement comes Zacchaeus. As you can imagine everybody was waiting for Jesus to give him a show down. Everybody was waiting for Jesus to tell him the story of his life and its fullness or lack thereof. Standing there was Zacchaeus, the same man that climbed the tree because he was too short to see Jesus from the ground. His name, Zacchaeus, means the righteous one. But Read the rest of this entry
High Cost
[Immorality] “…may cost you your life.” Pr. 6:26 [NCV, added word in bold font to original Scripture]
When you deliberately magnify the consequences of sin, it will help you to stay pure in today’s sex-saturated world. Each time you are confronted with opportunities to violate God’s standard, deliberately mentally list out what the consequences of that step would be.
And the reason you are listing out the consequences is that you clearly see the devastation and destruction the action will cause both physically and spiritually. It will save your life. Let’s say the fruit the enemy is dangling before you is an orange and you are Read the rest of this entry
Off Limits!
“Bad companions ruin good character.” 1 Cor. 15:33 [GN]
When affairs and illicit sex happen, they happen with three main categories of people. The first category is friends [family friends]. It is well documented that most affairs occur between couples that are friends. Why am I exposing this? It is so that you know what to watch out for and what to guard against. Does it mean you would not have friends? Of course you should have friends. Your friend came to visit with your family, then you leave her at midnight to watch a Read the rest of this entry
Push For Zero!
“Turn your back on lustful thoughts and give your positive attention to goodness, integrity, love, and peace.” 2 Tim. 2:22 [Ph, emphasis added]
You and I need to learn how to willingly run away from potentially damaging things. If only you realize that God is actually watching you, you will run away from everything that is vile and vulgar. You will not even struggle. You just would not be caught with such things. Another thing we all need to watch out for when it comes to minimizing the opportunity for temptation, is traveling. Traveling kind of gives people a false sense of liberty because your mind tells Read the rest of this entry
Be Practical
“Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through Your Word” Ps.119:37
The first key to remaining pure in a sex-saturated world is a commitment to God’s standard. The second key is managing your mind.
#3. Minimize the opportunity for temptation. The truth is there is no one that is immune to sexual sin; given the right circumstances anyone can fall, anyone! Yes, including Pastors. I will not fall, in Jesus Name but I am not a fool to Read the rest of this entry
Eyes Right
I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar.” Ps. 101:3 [emphasis added]
Immorality has a pattern, an identifiable process to how it happens. It starts with the thoughts, engages the emotions, and then translates to actions. Accepting sinful thoughts in the mind is the first step. God is clear in His Word about what we should do with sinful thoughts, “Turn your back on lustful thoughts…” 2 Tim. 2:22 [Ph, emphasis added]. The next step seems subtle but it is very dangerous – emotional, non-physical involvement. A lot of people deceive Read the rest of this entry
Protect Them
“Your sons born in your youth are a protection, like arrows in the hand of a warrior. Happy is the man who has his quiver full, for they will help and protect him when he is old… for his sons will stand with him against his enemies” Pr. 127:4-5 [Voice]
For two days now we have been learning how to take charge of ourselves, take charge of our minds, and take charge of the content our children are consuming on different media platforms. As parents we are responsible because God has entrusted the lives and the destinies of these children into our hands. Statistics show that in just one year, a typical teenager has been exposed to visual input of fourteen thousand [14000] sexual encounters. In one year, the child will Read the rest of this entry
Own It!
“Turn your back on lustful thoughts and give your positive attention to goodness, integrity, love, and peace” 2 Tim.2:22 [Ph, emphasis added]
Yesterday we learnt to take charge of ourselves and take charge of our minds. Today I am urging you to take it a step further especially if you are a parent. You need to take charge of the media intake of your children. It is amazing how parents today allow their children to watch all sorts of things on television. It is almost as if some parents are not even interested in going through the pains of regulating the media that the children watch.
