Praise Point

Acts 16:35-36 “The next morning the city officials sent the police to tell the jailer, “Let those men go!” So, the jailer told Paul, “The city officials have said you and Silas are free to leave. Go in peace.”

After reading today’s anchor scripture, I wrestled with it. God is All-knowing, He created the heavens and the earth, He knew that they were going to release Paul and Silas the following day. Read the rest of this entry

On Purpose

Acts 16:27-28 “The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself. But Paul shouted to him, “Stop! Don’t kill yourself! We are all here!

Why did Paul and Silas not walk out of prison after all, they had been freed and it was dark, so why didn’t they run? The first reason they did not escape is because their assignment was not done. Read the rest of this entry

At Midnight

Acts 16:23-24 “They were severely beaten, and then they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn’t escape. So, the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks.”

Apart from the pain of accusation, Paul and Silas also felt the pain of arrest. The pain of arrest is being confined by a stronger force. You can only be arrested by someone or something that is stronger than you. Read the rest of this entry

Worship Happens When…

John 4:22-23 “You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship… But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.”

2 Sam.6:20 “…Michal …said, ‘How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, disrobing in the sight of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!’ (NIV). 2 Sam.6:21-22 “David said to Michal, ‘It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house… I will celebrate before the Lord. I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honour.’” (NIV). This is so huge! I urge you to spend some time just meditating on it. Read the rest of this entry

Worship Stance, II

1 Chr.13:14 “The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his household and everything he had.’” (NIV)

2 Sam.6:20On David’s return, he wanted to bestow good favour on his household, but Michal, the daughter of Saul, came out to meet him… (sarcastically) The king has distinguished himself today in front of his servants’ maids. He revealed quite a lot, just as the lowest of the low might expose himself” (VOICE). Stop and picture this for a moment. You are coming from having an amazing time of worship and fellowship with God. You are charged up and taking that atmosphere to your home and then the first thing that greets you is sarcasm from the very people you are going to bless. How would you respond? David did not say, ‘You this woman, you are going to see my red eye today!’ I am sure that Michal’s attitude was not strange to David because he was not shocked. David did not let her sarcasm stop him from bestowing good favour on his household.

Your walk with God must affect your household. If you have a walk with God that is not affecting your family, something is wrong with that. If you have a walk with God that is not impacting your children positively, something is definitely wrong with that. Unfortunately, a lot of Pastor’s children do not want to hear anything about church or have anything to do with God. And it because their parents who are Pastors did not take the same attitude into their homes. Yet, we are also grateful for all of the Pastor’s children who are in church, actively engaging in true worship. David returned home after sacrificing to God and blessing God’s people, to bless his household. God expects us, as true worshippers, to take it back home and be consistent. Bless your home, bless your sons and daughters. Be the priest; take God’s Word to your household, take God’s blessings to your family. Even if they despise you, take it to them anyway. You have a duty to take God’s Word and blessings to your household. Even if they do not respect the prophet, still take it to them because that is your calling.

True worship happens When I Humble Myself Before God In Celebration. 2 Sam.6:20 “When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, ‘How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, disrobing in the sight of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!’ (NIV, emphasis added). Kings have robes, royal garments. David did not rush home to change, he disrobed in front of everybody. It can even be offensive, obviously to his wife, because that is the natural response. However, sometimes you need to be spiritual and ignore what is supposed to be a natural response. David disrobed publicly and wore an ephod as in the inserted image.

Prayer: Father, I pray that my walk with You and my work for You will impact my entire camp positively for the Kingdom of God, in Jesus Name. Amen!

I Will

Ps.108:1-3 “My heart is confident in you, O God; no wonder I can sing your praises with all my heart! Wake up, lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song.  I will thank you, Lord, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations.” (emphasis added)

David is teaching us something very crucial about active worship in today’s anchor scripture which is, sometimes you need to tell yourself to get up and praise God. There will be times that you will need to command yourself to be active in worship. Read the rest of this entry

Choose Wisely

Gal.6:5 “Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life” (MSG)

One of the greatest things God did to man was to give him the power to choose. And in my opinion, as much as it is the greatest blessings, it can also be one of the greatest curses that can happen to man. Read the rest of this entry

Destiny Matters

2 Tim.3:16-17 “Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.” (MSG).

A man went to his doctor to complain, he was convinced that something was wrong. The doctor ran some tests and presented his findings to the man. The doctor told him that he needed to change something urgently. Read the rest of this entry

Safe Place?

Isa.55:2-3 “Why spend your money on food that doesn’t give you strength? Why pay for groceries that do you no good? Listen and I’ll tell you where to get good food that fattens up the soul! Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, for the life of your soul is at stake…” (TLB)

When we are under pressure, we all have a ‘safe place’ to hide apart from God and that is usually a problem. When the pressure of parenting, or of marriage, or of finances come to us, we have places that we run to hide, Read the rest of this entry

Grateful not Entitled

Matt. 20:28 “For even the Son of Man did not come expecting to be served but to serve and give his life in exchange for the salvation of many.” (TPT).

Luke 17:10 “And that’s how it should be with you. When you’ve done all you should, then say, “We are merely servants, and we have simply done our duty.” (CEV, emphasis added). Read the rest of this entry
