Safe Place?

Isa.55:2-3 “Why spend your money on food that doesn’t give you strength? Why pay for groceries that do you no good? Listen and I’ll tell you where to get good food that fattens up the soul! Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, for the life of your soul is at stake…” (TLB)

When we are under pressure, we all have a ‘safe place’ to hide apart from God and that is usually a problem. When the pressure of parenting, or of marriage, or of finances come to us, we have places that we run to hide, Read the rest of this entry

Secure?

Ps. 46:1-2 “God, you’re such a safe and powerful place to find refuge! You’re a proven help in time of trouble—more than enough and always available whenever I need you. So we will never fear even if every structure of support were to crumble away…” (KJV)

We pick up today’s devotional from our final thought yesterday, which is, as a leader, you have to be careful how you handle fear. Why was Jerusalem afraid? What was their fear? Their king, Herod was afraid, and so everyone was in fear. Read the rest of this entry

Posture

Rev.4:10-11 “the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: “You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honour and power…” (NKJV]

Twice in our study of John 8, we see crowds attempt to stone Jesus. In the first instance, the wisdom that Jesus spoke confounded them and they dropped the stones and left. This same Jesus says to us in Luke 21:14-15So don’t worry in advance about how to answer the charges against you, for I will give you the right words and such wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to reply or refute you!Read the rest of this entry

Under Cover

John 8:59 At that point they picked up stones to throw at him. But Jesus was hidden from them and left the Temple.” (emphasis added).

The stones they picked up were the same stones that the Pharisees and the leaders had dropped because the stones were for Jesus all along. Though this crowd did not join the Pharisees and the leaders at that point, they just stood and watched the exchanges. Read the rest of this entry

Citadel

Ps.91:1–2 “He who takes refuge in the shelter of the Most High will be safe in the shadow of the Almighty. He will say to the Eternal, “My shelter, my mighty fortress, my God, I place all my trust in You.” (Voice].

You need to learn to hide. This is so important, and every child must understand the weight of this truth. Hiding is not weakness; it is actually a strength. The value of your life is directly proportional to the quality of your hiding. Read the rest of this entry

Hiding Place

John 7:30 “Then the leaders tried to arrest him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his time had not yet come.”

We ended the devotional yesterday with the question, why do people die before their time? I hope that you took time out to wrestle with it. It will be impossible for any force to take you out before your time in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Read the rest of this entry

Stretched?

Matt.11:28 (AMPC) “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. (I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.)”

Every believer needs a place where they can openly express their worship to God. And every believer needs a small group where they can freely share their struggles with others. Read the rest of this entry

The Testament

Rev.19:10 (NKJV) “And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

It is wise to hide until it is time to shine! Matt.2:14That night Joseph left for Egypt with the child and Mary, his mother, 15 …This fulfilled what the Lord had spoken through the prophet: “I called my Son out of Egypt.” Read the rest of this entry

Rock vs. Sand

Luke 6:48 [NKJV] “He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.”

There are Forty-two references to God as the Rock in the Bible; the Rock of ages, the Rock of our salvation, the Rock of defense, the Rock of offence, and so on. Read the rest of this entry
