Like A Tree!

Psalm 1:3 “He will be standing firm like a flourishing tree planted by God’s design, deeply rooted by the brooks of bliss, bearing fruit in every season of life. He is never dry, never fainting, ever blessed, ever prosperous.” (TPT)

I have good news for you today. If you are in a tight place, you are like a tree. You are going to survive this season and begin to think long-term. Why does God compare us to trees? Another reason is in our operation. Read the rest of this entry

On Purpose

Acts 16:27-28 “The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself. But Paul shouted to him, “Stop! Don’t kill yourself! We are all here!

Why did Paul and Silas not walk out of prison after all, they had been freed and it was dark, so why didn’t they run? The first reason they did not escape is because their assignment was not done. Read the rest of this entry

Clay o, Clay!

Zep. 3:16-17 “…Cheer up, Zion! Don’t be afraid! For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

We took a break from dealing with the final ‘D’ that attempts to steal our cheer, to receive what God was delivering to us at Christmas, in the final days of 2020 and into the new year. How do I cheer up when change seems distant? Let us start with a quick recap. The first truth is, to cheer up when my change seems distant, I need to Embrace The Big Picture. Ripening

James 1:2 … when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.”

Endure

2 Tim.4:5 [NIV] “But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.”

A lot of us devote so much energy daily to trying to avoid challenges. We should actually be thanking God for challenges and adversity because they help us develop endurance.

Character

Prov. 11:5 (MSG) “Moral character makes for smooth traveling; an evil life is a hard life. Good character is the best insurance; crooks get trapped in their sinful lust.”

An anonymous quote defines character as, “…who you are when no one is watching.” Examples of character would be, a woman that overcomes shyness to testify before God’s people that,

Quality Check

2 Peter 1:10 (TLB) “…work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen, and then you will never stumble or fall away.11 And God will open wide the gates of heaven for you to enter into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”

The statue of liberty is famous for many reasons, one of which is the detail the sculpture has. It will interest you to know that as the sculptor was making that piece, he never knew that anyone would be able to see the top of the statue of liberty. Read the rest of this entry

Over Turn

Eccl.10:10 “If the ax is dull, and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed but skill will bring success”

Energy even though finite is a variable. You can increase your energy level physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually by doing the right type of exercise and eating right accordingly. Time however, cannot be increased. While time is linear and cannot be concentrated, energy fluctuates and can be concentrated. And the increase in energy given in Read the rest of this entry

Joy vs. Happiness

James 1:2 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

Nobody enjoys trials, not even Jesus. Jesus did not like the cross and He is the Son of God. Jesus told everyone that the cross was the purpose for which He had come but when He was faced with the cross, He ran to the Father. “Lord, if it is Your will make this cup pass over me”. Pure Joy II

James 1:2Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance” [with emphasis].

It appears that man’s perception of joy is very different from God’s reality. Yesterday, we learnt that there is joy and there is pure joy. God says we should consider it pure joy when we face trials of different kinds. And that does not really line up with our idea of what happiness is. Read the rest of this entry
