Move Quickly!
As Goliath moved closer to attack, David quickly ran out to meet him… taking out a stone, he hurled it with his sling and hit the Philistine in the forehead. The stone sank in, and Goliath stumbled and fell face down…” 1 Sam.17:48 – 49 [emphasis added]
Saul said to David, ‘you cannot kill this Goliath’. David answered back, ‘I will kill him’ and went on to give his reasons. I killed the bear, I killed the lion, and I will kill this Goliath too. Goliath cursed David with his gods. David said you come to me with sword and spear but I come to you in the Name of the Lord of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel whom you have defied. Today, I will cut off your head and give your flesh to the birds. Note that the person Read the rest of this entry
Make It Happen!
“Let’s go across to the outpost of those pagans,” Jonathan said to his armor bearer. “Perhaps the Lord will help us, for nothing can hinder the Lord. He can win a battle whether he has many warriors or only a few!” 1Sam.14:6
I love people that make things happen. I see a lot of philosophers, even in church, they are always there analyzing things. I listen to them and I move on. I am friendlier with action people. Napoleon, the great general said, “Opportunities? I make opportunities!” While others are waiting for opportunities, he does not. Instead, he makes opportunities. By all indication, it does not appear that Napoleon knew God.
Action!
“And again David asked the Lord what to do. “Do not attack them straight on,” the Lord replied. “Instead, circle around behind and attack them near the poplar trees” 2 Sam.5:23
Did you ever watch those old movies that featured the oriental wars? Remember how both warring parties have their soldiers lined up, horses are fuming, the people are revving but nothing happens, no body steps out of rank. Then suddenly the General shouts, “Attack!” And everybody lunges forward. God is saying to you “Attack!” You are going to go from relegation to promotion.

Circle Average
“And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God” Lu.13:13 [emphasis added]
You are the average of the three people you spend the most time with. Perhaps on the capacity scale of one to ten, you are a nine. But you keep hanging out with twos, fours and fives. After a while you will be two plus four plus five divided by three [(2 + 4 + 5) ÷ 3]. In other words, even though you are a nine, your output will be a three. Not because of you or what God has put in you, but because of who you are hanging out with. For some us of, the reason why we have those people in Read the rest of this entry
Circle Check
“And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God” Lu.13:13 [emphasis added]
Maryanne Williamson says, “Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us”. If you are poor, you cannot help anybody. As a church, in God’s Favourite House, there are so many things that God is doing through us for the communities around us. But we cannot do any of these things if we were a poor church. For those of us Read the rest of this entry
Take The Stand I
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love” 1Jn.4:18 [NIV, emphasis added]
There can be no transformation without confrontation. I know we all have different personalities but have you noticed that some people like working hard and some do not.? Some students like reading their books but some students do not. Does that change the fact that they are all going to take the same exams? Life does not differentiate. You need to learn the
life skills you need regardless of your personality and Stand Tall.
Confront It!
“You are the light of the world…” Matt.5:14 [emphasis added]
Jesus was walking on the streets of Nazareth he was not a threat to anybody as long as he was baring Jesus the son of the carpenter. The day he said “I am the Christ, Jesus Christ”, they said they will kill him. Why? It is because your name triggers your destiny. Zechariah wrote “his name is John”, he did not write “his name will be John” because the destiny is preordained. Guess what happened to Zechariah? He was dumb but he began to speak. The yoke of the father was Read the rest of this entry
Audience Of One
“Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread” Isa.8:13 .
The key to being totally free from people pleasing is in understanding that the only person you are capable of totally pleasing is God. You are not capable of pleasing any human being. In fact, you will discover that human beings are “un-pleasable”. Let me illustrate with the story of a popular folk song. It is the story of a father, his son and their donkey on a journey. The father alone was riding on the donkey while his son was walking. The people called him wicked. So the father Read the rest of this entry
Untouchable!
“This is my command – be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” Josh.1:9
In life, you will have to do many things scared but do not be afraid of fear. A lot of things I have done, I have done afraid but not afraid of fear. One night I was driving back from a prayer meeting with my wife and friends in the car, just having fun. And I felt the Holy Spirit say to me, keep quiet. The conversation continued but I kept quiet. And the next thing I saw was armed robbers stopping cars. The cars before ours had been stopped, I could feel the fear, it was tangible. And the Read the rest of this entry
Inspite Of Fear
“Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes” Prov. 3:25.
For you to fulfill your destiny, you will have to do some things regardless of the fear you feel. Long ago, a friend of mine was consistently failing her final professional exams. What was the problem? She studies hard for her exam but she said that every time she gets afraid, she knows she is going to fail the exam. And that is exactly how it plays out. I told her the Bible says that you have to face the fear and inspite of the fear pass the exams. So I showed her this scripture, “Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes” Prov. 3:25. Read the rest of this entry
