Watch Out!

Then He said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions” Luke 12:15 [NIV]

The default mode in conflict situations, even when you are tender hearted, is to be tough and deal with the other person. But each time you go that route, you are going against scriptures and God cannot bless you. Every time I read this portion of Scripture I wish God could have said not offending one another. Would that not have helped us a whole lot more than having to forgive one another? But God did not stop at just forgiving one another, He gave us His method Read the rest of this entry

Thoughtful Speaking

You will have to live with the consequences of everything you say.” Pr. 18:20 [GN, emphasis added].

The first thing you do in situations of conflict is change your focus and the second thing is Watch Your Words. Do not attack the person you are in conflict with, attack the situation. The damage caused by some words is irreparable. In many cases, even though forgiveness happens but the scars remain. Some verbal weapons should never ever be used. Even in a war situation, there are ground rules. There are things you can do even in a war that can be considered a Read the rest of this entry

Yours vs. His

“Don’t be selfish…  Be humble….  Don’t think only about your own affairs, be interested in others too, and what they are doing.  Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had.  Though He was God, He did not demand and cling to His rights.”  Phil. 2:3-6[ emphasis added]

When you are really in Christ Jesus, you have given your rights to God. That is what being a Christian is. If people really understand this, all the stress in marriages will go. The problem with us is that we confuse our wants with our rights. Read the rest of this entry

Before

Don’t be selfish…  Be humble….  Don’t think only about your own affairs, be interested in others too, and what they are doing. Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had.  Though He was God, He did not demand and cling to His rights.”  Phil. 2:3-6[ emphasis added]

The secret of defusing conflict is in understanding where people are coming from. Understand their circumstance, their background, and their temperament. I know that understanding can be tough and a lot of people do not know how. So I will let you in on the secret to understanding and it is; you understand by listening before you speak. It sounds very simple but this is a life-saver. However in a conflict, all people care about is what they want to say. Have you noticed? Read the rest of this entry

Put Aside

The wise man saves for the future…” Pr. 21:20 [LB]

The third habit for financial freedom is Save For The Future. It is called the Principle of Investment. I am using the word ‘save’ loosely here. I know financial gurus say you cannot save money because the inflation rate is higher than the interest rate. I understand that but you must at least accumulate some money before you can invest it. I know of people that actually buy land with their money without going to the bank. And they are able to achieve this because they have Read the rest of this entry

Financial Control

Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender” Prov.22:7

Statistics show that over fifty percent of marriages that end up in divorce had to do with money. And guess what? Christians are not immune. Over fifty percent of divorce cases have a financial twist to it. I pray that financial vagueness in every marriage will disappear and beginning from today you will have total financial clarity. To get the facts at any price, there are four facts that you must know about your finances or joint finances as a married couple. #1. Know what you own. #2. Know what you owe. #3. Know what you earn. #4. Know where it is going. Read the rest of this entry

A Test

And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?Luke 16:11

Did you know that God, the God of heaven, uses money to test your spiritual maturity? God says money is a test of true riches. So how much do you think has passed through your hands till date? If you sum up all the money that has passed through your hands till now, how much will it be? It is a test. Heaven was testing you to see what you will do with it.  After every test comes a promotion, or a demotion, or a carry over, or sometimes a “stay where you are”. I pray that Read the rest of this entry

The Purpose

“And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others” 2Cor.9:8.

God is a God of abundance but God is not a God of wastage. God gives abundantly but God is not prodigal with resources. You need to understand that. In fact, for a lot of people that is the missing link.  If you check our lives, it is full of waste. We waste everything. The way we waste power in this country is almost unbelievable. Imagine a house with five rooms and the cooling units in the five rooms are left on, meanwhile everybody is in the living room – waste. Read the rest of this entry

Fact Not Truth

“…Prophesy to these bones. Tell them to listen to what the Eternal Lord says to them…” Eze.37:4 [VOICE].

The question you and I must answer is, what is God saying? Some people are so logical they can think God out of their lives. I am not saying we should not use our brains. We are intelligent people and we cannot do what we are doing if we are not intelligent by the grace of God. But when the rubber meets the road, what matters is not what your logic is saying, it is what is God saying. Do not use logic to eradicate God from your life. What is God saying? It is not even what “reality” is saying. I have heard folks repeatedly say, let us face reality. And I say no! We will face the Read the rest of this entry

Value Treatment

The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” Mark 12:31 [emphasis added].

This is how I live my life and this is how I suggest you live your life. Treat everyone below you exactly how you would want them to treat you if you were below them. Who is below you today? Domestic staff? Treat your house help, your cook, your gateman the same way you want him or her to treat you if you were working for them. It will change your life. I know some people will struggle with this because they cannot imagine being the house help or gate man or cook. I know what I am asking you to do is a hard thing but it is the way to your freedom. Your driver, treat him how Read the rest of this entry
