The Holy Spirit

Rom. 14:17 (KJV) “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost”.

This Scripture gives us a clue into the source of joy. There are people that cannot get excited unless they take a substance. But after the substance wears out, they are back to being sober and sorrowful. But you and I have the Holy Ghost constantly with us so we are on a constant high. Read the rest of this entry

Set Free

Josh.1:9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Caution! Fear ruins relationships. A lot of bosses stifle the creativity of their people because they are afraid. They are afraid that if they allow the creativity to flourish, those people may take over their jobs. And such people stand on one spot, waiting to stop the creativity of others. Instead, let others flourish and free yourself to also develop and flourish.

A lot of parents cannot let go of their children because they are afraid. I know someone that built a house like a campus with living Read the rest of this entry

Leadership

Deut.11:18 So commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these words of mine. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 19 Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road…”

Our lesson today is from the life of Samuel, Hannah’s son. Hannah had a deal with God; He would give her a son and she will give the son back to God to serve God. And that was exactly what happened. God gave her Samuel and immediately she weaned him, she dedicated him to God and dropped him off at the temple. You can imagine how young the boy was but she actually left him in the temple with Eli. She would visit him from time to time to give him new clothes. When you dedicate your children to God, believe that Read the rest of this entry

Knowing II

Eph.3:10 [NIV] “God’s intent is that through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known…”

Test #2 for recognizing Gods voice is: Does my church family confirm this? God wants us to connect to each other. The people that usually get into trouble, are the people who do not want to have anything to do with other people. They feel they are better than everyone else so they do not want people in their business. God did not design us to be silos. God designed us for community. Prov.11:9 [GN]The wisdom of the righteous can save you.” The correction or guidance you get at your life group meeting can change your life. Read the rest of this entry

His Channels IV

Prov.20:30 [GN] “Sometimes it takes a painful experience to make us change our ways.”

Channel #5: God speaks to us through Pain. Sometimes, in order to get peoples attention and to get them to slow down and seek Him, God has to resort to letting them go through pain. I am not suggesting that all pain is from God, but sometimes for God to get our attention, He needs to whack us a little bit. If you miss the Word, you will not Read the rest of this entry

His Voice

Heb.1:1-2 “Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets.  And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son…”

It is very humbling to hear the voice of God. One of the most abused statements that I have come across as a person is, “God told me to do xyz”. I do not think a lot of people appreciate how dangerous it is to make such a bold claim. This statement, in my opinion, is one of the most misunderstood statements and it can be Read the rest of this entry

Caution!!!

“Therefore let the one who thinks he stands firm [immune to temptation, being overconfident and self-righteous], take care that he does not fall [into sin and condemnation]” 1 Cor. 10:12 [AMP]

Establish protective boundaries. There are certain things that I just will not do, not because they are sin by themselves, but I have chosen not to do them. There are certain things you just should not do, certain things you should tag off limits. Why should you be asking your female colleague to pray for your sexual relationship with your wife? Then she will say, I will not only pray because faith without works is dead.

Be In Charge

I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar” Ps.101:3 [emphasis added].

What is the point of eating bread that will turn into gravel in your mouth? Is it worth losing all your teeth? Who knows what is best for your life, you or God? This is the question you have to answer and settle in your heart. And your actions determine your answer to that question. Are you going to be more committed to doing what God says because He knows better? Or will you do what you think is best because it is your body? This is a question we all need to answer. PG 15

God wants you to be pure and to keep clear of all sexual sin…  For God has not called us to be dirty-minded and full of lust but to be holy and clean” 1 Thes.4:3,7 [LB, emphasis added]

Over the next few days, God is going to teach us how to think clearly about sex. Please note that the rating is PG 15. So parents please take note and engage your teenagers daily about the discourse. Your teenagers should know these things because if we [God’s Family] do not teach them, the “world” will try to teach them.

We live in a sex-saturated society. Everything, particularly in the media, has a sexual undertone and it is in our faces Read the rest of this entry

Stay On Track

Let everyone be sure to do his very best, for then he will have the personal satisfaction of work done well, and won’t need to compare himself with someone else” Gal. 6:4 [LB]

The first way to reduce the stress of competition  is to Stop Comparing. Comparing is a foolish thing to do because you are unique. God designed you uniquely. In fact, God designed your genes uniquely. No two human beings have the same genes. You have designer genes. Why is it a bad thing to compare? It is because it causes envy and bitterness. It makes you miserable, do not do it. “Let everyone be sure to do his very best, for then he will have the personal satisfaction of work done well, and won’t need to compare himself with someone else” Gal.6:4[LB, emphasis added].
