Knowing V
Rom.14:10, 13 [PH] “We will all be judged one day, not by each other’s standards, or even our own, but by the judgment of God… It is to God alone that we shall have to answer for our actions.”
Sometimes, God talks to us about other people so that He can confirm what He has said to them. This is closely linked to moral authority. You must have the moral authority to engage people at that level otherwise keep quiet. Even with yourself, with certain things and in certain situations, you need to ask yourself “does this concern my responsibility”? Let me give you an illustration. Billy Graham, a great man of God, years ago was so popular in the polity of the United States that they offered him a cabinet seat. But Billy Read the rest of this entry
Knowing II
Eph.3:10 [NIV] “God’s intent is that through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known…”
Test #2 for recognizing Gods voice is: Does my church family confirm this? God wants us to connect to each other. The people that usually get into trouble, are the people who do not want to have anything to do with other people. They feel they are better than everyone else so they do not want people in their business. God did not design us to be silos. God designed us for community. Prov.11:9 [GN] “The wisdom of the righteous can save you.” The correction or guidance you get at your life group meeting can change your life. Read the rest of this entry
Just Be Still
Matt.6:6 But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
Matt.6:6 [MSG] “Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense His grace.” Jesus Himself took time out to teach us the principle of withdrawing to be alone with God. Some people cannot imagine being alone with Read the rest of this entry
Make It Happen!
Luke 5:16 [NIV] “Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”
How do you pray in a house with nineteen children? I am sure this is the question on the mind of a lot of mothers. When having two children or even four is a huge challenge on its own. Again, we will draw inspiration from Susannah Wesley. Her children tell us that when they see their mother sitting in the kitchen with her apron thrown over her head, everyone knows that Read the rest of this entry
Contend With II
Heb.9:14 [ERV] So surely the blood sacrifice of Christ can do much more… His blood will make us completely clean from the evil we have done. It will give us clear consciences so that we can worship the living God.
The first challenge we have to overcome in the place of prayer and tuning into the voice of the Holy Spirit, is our Commitment and the second is our Conscience. As soon as you overcome the commitment barrier, you need to deal with Read the rest of this entry
Contend With I
2 Cor.10:5 [ERV] “and we tear down every proud idea that raises itself against the knowledge of God. We also capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ”
We have established that there are voices in the atmosphere around us and all that we need is the right gadget to tune-in to those voices. Note that the fact that your gadget can receive does not mean you will be tuned-in automatically. You will still need Read the rest of this entry
Expressions I
Job 33:14-17 [LB] “God speaks again and again, in dreams, in visions of the night… as they lie on their beds. He opens their ears in times like that, …gives them wisdom and instruction, causing them to change their minds, …keeping them from pride… and from falling into some trap.”
God speaks to us through expressions of the Holy Spirit. The second expression of the Holy Spirit that we will be looking at is Visions. A vision is a picture, still picture or motion picture that God shows you while you are awake. I am not talking about trance. With a vision, you are standing. A lot of the Words of knowledge that God gives us in God’s Favourite House is a combination of visions. So while I am Read the rest of this entry
His Channels VI
Gen.20:3 “But that night God came to Abimelech in a dream and told him, “You are a dead man, for that woman you have taken is already married!”
Channel #7: God speaks through Expressions of the Holy Spirit. God speaks to us through expressions of the Holy Spirit. And this is the one channel. However, when it comes to hearing from the Holy Spirit, there are two extremes. On one extreme are the people that say God does not speak. So even when they are in a place where God is speaking through ministry gifts or other channels, they are unable to Read the rest of this entry
Find Rest…
Job 34:29 [MSG] “If God is silent, what’s that to you? If He turns His face away, what can you do about it? But whether silent or hidden, He’s there, ruling,”
It can be really uncomfortable when God is silent. However, it is important that we examine our own lives to ensure we have not done anything that offends Him [Ps.139.24]. When you submit your heart to the Holy Spirit as Psalm 139:23-24 directs, He will set you straight if there is anything that offends Him. However, if you check your life and God is not upset with you but just silent, these two things will help you Read the rest of this entry
Caution!
Ps.139:23-24 “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life”
God speaks through Silence. Sometimes, God’s silence means He is waiting for you to choose but at other times, it could mean that God is upset. Sometimes, when God is upset He keeps quiet. If God is upset with you, I pray that you will make peace with Him today, in Jesus Name. But I pray that God will not be upset and keep quiet at you, in Jesus Name. Read the rest of this entry
