Eyewitness
John 9:11 “He told them, “The man they call Jesus made mud and spread it over my eyes and told me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash yourself.’ So I went and washed, and now I can see!”
When they asked this man who healed him, even though he had never seen before in his life and Jesus might have been standing beside him. He had never seen Jesus, so he did not know what Jesus looked like, but he had learned Jesus’ name. Read the rest of this entry
Truth About…
1 John 4:20 “If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?”
Imagine someone says to you, ‘I like you, but I hate your children’, how would you take to that? Will the person be welcome in your home? All of us can relate to this either as parents or as a child to someone. Someone is claiming to love your father, but the person hates you, how will you take to that? Read the rest of this entry
The Charge
1 Peter 2:16 “For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.”
John 8:33 “But we are descendants of Abraham,” they said. “We have never been slaves to anyone. What do you mean, ‘You will be set free’?” Never been slaves, really? What about the four hundred and thirty years [430 years] in Egypt? If it was for ten years, then they can forget after some generations. Read the rest of this entry
Heart Affairs I
John 8:17-18 “Your own law says that if two people agree about something, their witness is accepted as fact. 18 I am one witness, and my Father who sent me is the other.”
Please read John 8:14-18. Remember our discussion about the four witnesses? Interestingly, in this case, Jesus did not even bother with that. He just said, ‘You know what? My Word is true because I am not speaking My own words, I am speaking the Word of Him that sent me. Read the rest of this entry
Love Speaks
John 7:49-51 “This foolish crowd follows him, but they are ignorant of the law. God’s curse is on them!” Then Nicodemus, the leader who had met with Jesus earlier, spoke up. “Is it legal to convict a man before he is given a hearing?” he asked.”
If you love Jesus, you will speak up for Him just like Nicodemus spoke up for Jesus. You need to speak up for Jesus. Speak up for Jesus because God needs your voice to reach the people around you who are far from Him. We speak up for the people we love. Read the rest of this entry
His Not Yours, III
John 5:20 “For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. In fact, the Father will show him how to do even greater works than healing this man. Then you will truly be astonished.” (emphasis added).
John 21:15-17 “After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” Peter replied, “you know I love you.” “Then feed my lambs,” Jesus told him. Jesus repeated the question: “Simon son of John, do you love me?” “Yes, Lord,” Peter said, “you know I love you.” “Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said. A third time he asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep.” God measures our love for Him by our service for His people. Read the rest of this entry
His Not Yours, II
John 5:20 “For the Father loves the Son, and tells him everything he is doing; and the Son will do far more awesome miracles than this man’s healing.” (TLB]
John 19:26 “When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, “Woman, here is your son.” (NRSV, emphasis added). God commits His most precious things to people that are convinced about His love for them. Read the rest of this entry
His Not Yours, I
John 5:20 “For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. In fact, the Father will show him how to do even greater works than healing this man. Then you will truly be astonished.” (emphasis added).
In today’s anchor scripture, we see Jesus boast in His Father’s love for Him and that is big. “The Father loves the Son…”, just like a boy on the playground says, ‘my daddy loves me’. God’s love for you is more important than your love for God. Read the rest of this entry
Refresh
Isa.55:8-9 “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”
Please read John 5:16-47; every time we open God’s Word, we must approach it knowing that it is so hugely important. So, my prayer for us is that God will teach us Himself and give us understanding in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Jesus was an enigma. Read the rest of this entry
Do Likewise
Gal.3:27-28 “And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
Eph. 2:12-14 “In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope. But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ. For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us.” (emphasis added). We are spiritual Jews; our operations, Christianity as Jesus wanted it is not a religion. His desire is to have a people that are separated for Him and for His Kingdom. Read the rest of this entry
