In Love

Eph.4:15 “Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.”

The truth is that a lot of our loved ones that we have spent years talking to about Christ, are actually blind. They are blind to The Truth so they cannot receive the good news that you bring.

You Must Not

Ex.20:15 “You must not steal.”

The eighth commandment reveals our struggle with integrity. The root cause of stealing is the desire to get as much as possible while giving as little as possible.

Original Blueprint

Heb.13:4 (NRSV) “Let marriage be held in honour by all, and let the marriage bed be kept undefiled; for God will judge fornicators and adulterers.”

There are different seasons in marriage and the same applies to sexual intimacy within the marriage.

Parenting

Isa.40:11 “He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.”

Effective parenting only happens within the confines of sufficiency, wisdom, and love. Abuse begins when authority is misused outside of these lines. Read the rest of this entry

Love Worthy

John 15:16 “You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name” [with emphasis]

Love is a choice; choosing the other person. When you marry someone, loving him or her is a choice. Even the decision to marry your spouse was the result of a choice. When you choose God, you have chosen to follow God. Read the rest of this entry

Do It Quickly

Eph.4:26-27 (GN) “If you become angry, do not let your anger lead you into sin; and do not stay angry all day.  Don’t give the devil a chance.”

The fifth way to deal with difficult people is Resolve The Conflict Quickly. The question is, should a Christian ever get angry? Did Jesus ever get angry? Yes, Jesus did but that is not a license to be short fused. Inevitably, sometimes we get angry but God’s Word says, Eph.4:27 (Philips) “Never go to bed angry!” Read the rest of this entry

With God & Self

Ps.139:13 “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.”

You cannot give what you do not have. If you do not like what you see in the mirror, you cannot bring life to your relationship with your spouse. I am not saying you should be carnally minded. What I am saying is everything God made is good; God made you and everything about you is good. Read the rest of this entry

Not Without

Matt.5:39 “But I say, do not resist an evil person! If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also…43 “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. 44 But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!” [with emphasis]

If you really want to follow Jesus and be a follower of Christ, you have to love. Some people say that Islam is a religion of peace and I say they have not read the Koran. Whoever really wants to be a follower of Mohammed has to fight jihad.

You Must VII

Mark 12:13 “And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength” [with emphasis].

It really does not make sense for believers to get attached to or marry an unbeliever because it is the God in the marriage equation that unites and solidifies. Read the rest of this entry

The Application

2 Kings 3:15 “Now bring me someone who can play the harp.” While the harp was being played, the power of the Lord came upon Elisha, 16 and he said, “This is what the Lord says: This dry valley will be filled with pools of water!

Elisha had the right seed, the right Word in his heart. He had the right soil but he did not have the right conditions and so he could not prophesy and miracles could not happen. Elisha understood this principle so he requested for a minstrel. Read the rest of this entry
