Persistent Obedience

Gen.26:12When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the Lord blessed him.”

Our lesson today is from the life of Isaac. It is easy to look at our scripture reference today and claim the promise for yourself. But I do not think God wants us to ignore the verses that follow [please read Gen.26:12-25] because they teach us a very important lesson when it comes to going forward. It is a lesson in persistence. Isaac was persistent. God had just changed Isaac’s destiny but with his growth and multiplication, came fierce opposition.

Jesus Is Worthy!

Rev.5:7 He stepped forward and took the scroll from the right hand of the one sitting on the throne. 8 And when he took the scroll, the four living beings and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb… 9And they sang… “You are worthy to take the scroll…

Sacrifice releases the power that enthrones and makes ordinary men worthy of extra-ordinary privileges. Every God given destiny cannot be attained without sacrifice. God depends on sacrifice to establish men’s destinies. It is what you give to God that secures your place. You have to pay the price in prayer – pray! Pay the price in fasting – fast! Pay the price in commitment. You have to pay the price in studying.  2 Tim.2:15 [KJV]Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”. Take note; there is a price tag on everything. Read the rest of this entry

Sacrifice

Prov.20:25 Don’t trap yourself by making a rash promise to God and only later counting the cost.”

The GAP between where you are and where you ought to be cannot be bridged without sacrifice. Jesus says that, which of you wanting to build a house does not sit down and first count the cost. Can I do this with these resources or do I need to do it in phases? The truth is that every God given destiny cannot be attained without sacrifice. Sacrifice releases the power that enthrones and makes ordinary men worthy of extraordinary privileges.

At What Cost?

Luke 14:28 “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?”

Before I surrendered to Jesus, there was a testimony that was making headlines. It was about a university student that had all her priorities wrong; she was evangelizing instead of being in class, at night vigils instead of reading, arranging chairs in church instead of doing her assignments. Is that not foolishness? Is that what God has sent her to do?

When exams came, she did not know anything. So she laid hands on and prayed over her blank answer sheet. The truth we need to Read the rest of this entry

In Response To…

2 Chr.16:9 “The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him”

The second way to provoke God’s favour and make heaven decide on your behalf is by Pleasing God. You can provoke favour by pleasing God. Pleasing God unlocks God’s favour. Ruben was in line to receive the double blessing but he went out of favour with Jacob. May you not go out of favour, in Jesus Name. Read the rest of this entry

True Worth

“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it” Eph.2:8-9 [emphasis added]

Many of us are quick to think that Jesus came to make good people better. And while we would admit that we are not where God wants us to be, but in our hearts we believe we are good. And we believe that it is because of that little goodness that Jesus came to help us to be better. I am sorry but that is not why Jesus came. Some believe that they are a little bad so they need Jesus to Read the rest of this entry

Love’s Sake II

“Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God” 2 Cor.7:1.

Yesterday, we established that as far as sexual purity is concerned, you are going to have options but by the grace of God, by your determination and by your willingness to be accountable to other Christians, you will prevail. I have been married now for almost fifteen years and I can tell you that by my determination and by my accountability to other Christian Read the rest of this entry

Time & Trouble

“Take the time and trouble to keep yourself spiritually fit” 1 Tim.4:7 [Ph, emphasis added].

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse” Rom.1:20. You and I are without excuse, because spiritual things are clearly revealed even in our daily living. Take physical fitness for instance, if you want to be physically fit it is going to take time and trouble. You have to take the trouble to wake up early to jog, to go to Read the rest of this entry

What Will It Be?

When Elisha was in his last illness, King Jehoash of Israel visited him and wept over him. “My father! My father! I see the chariots and charioteers of Israel!” he cried2kings 13:14.

The pain of every leader is to look back and not find anyone following. The pain of every leader is to look back and not find anyone willing to pay the price necessary for leadership. This was a pain that Elisha was familiar with. He looked back at his life and the only son of the prophet that came close was Gehazi. Gehazi had the opportunity to collect a double Read the rest of this entry

Strike!

“But the man of God was angry with him. “You should have struck the ground five or six times!” he exclaimed. “Then you would have beaten Syria until it was entirely destroyed. Now you will be victorious only three times.” 2 kings 13:19

“Then he said, “Now pick up the other arrows and strike them against the ground.” So the king picked them up and struck the ground three times” 2 kings 13:18. This was the mistake the king made. God told him to start but he decided on his own when to stop. If God told you to start, let God tell you when to stop! If God tells you to strike, strike and keep striking! But Read the rest of this entry
