Begins At Home

John 14:15 “If you love me, obey my commandments.”

The deepest question every Christian will have to answer is “me or Jesus?” Is it going to be my way or is it going to be His ways? Is it going to be my idea or is it going to be His ideas? The Ten Commandments is a blow out of the struggle between “me or Jesus?”

Configuration

Rom.6:1How should we respond to all of this? Is it good to persist in a life of sin so that grace may multiply even more? 2 Absolutely not! How can we die to a life where sin ruled over us and then invite sin back into our lives?”

Saving faith was done outside of you yet it was for you. Saving faith is not a “performing faith”; you cannot add to what Christ has done. Saving faith is a “receiving faith”. When the life of Christ is received, then it is formed in us and then it performs through us. Read the rest of this entry

Be Aware II

Psa.34:7 “The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him,
And delivers them” [NKJV].

Imagine you living daily with the consciousness and realization of the fact that angels surround you. Everybody has angels, we have different numbers of angels, we have different hierarchy of angels but everybody has angels. The number and hierarchy depend on your assignment. For some people, because of their assignment, if God does not give them angels, demons will kill them. I cannot afford to backslide because there are so many demons waiting to kill me. God needs to give me extra reinforcement because I’m always looking for trouble. So it depends on your assignment.

Stolen Bread

Prov.20:17Stolen bread tastes sweet, but it turns to gravel in the mouth[with emphasis]

There are certain things that you would naturally be drawn to but are not good for you. There are certain kinds of food that you really enjoy but are actually not good for you. In fact, some can actually kill you. Sugar for instance, no matter how much of a sweet tooth you have, the fact is that sugar can kill you. So the fact that it tastes good to you does not mean that it is good for you. The fact that sex is enjoyable does not mean it is good for you outside of God. Some people will argue that why did God make it so good. Again I say, the Read the rest of this entry

“It”

Sng.2:7 Promise me, O women of Jerusalem, by the gazelles and wild deer, not to awaken love until the time is right”

If you can control your appetite for food, you can control all other appetites including sex. But we must always accept that sex is what it is. Some people like it and some do not for two main reasons. Firstly, some people do not like sex because of their past experiences. If you grew up with badly prepared beans [water on one side, oil floating on the water and the beans at the bottom of the pot], you probably would not like beans. But the day you encounter well prepared beans, what do you think will happen? The second reason Read the rest of this entry

Self Control

Heb.13:5 “Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”

One of humanities biggest craving is for love and acceptance. It is a craving that God has given us. Sadly, we look in the wrong places for fulfillment. A lot of people are confused and lack direction because they have experienced rejection from their object of adoration and affection. When the object of affection becomes the object of rejection, people struggle deeply with direction. That is why some people go from one sex partner to another trying to fill a void that only Jesus can fill.

Arise!

1Jn. 2:16 “For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world”

Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness can be broken into the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. The devil said to Jesus, “if you are the Son of God command the stones to turn to bread”. This is the craving for physical pleasure and with Jesus it was the craving for food. Over the next few days, we are going to be focusing on the craving for physical pleasure with particular emphasis on sex. I encourage parents to discuss with teenage children who may be using the adult devotional each day. It is important they learn Read the rest of this entry

Neutral Amplifier

1 Tim.6:10 “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.”

I tell you that it is possible to walk with God and be free because by the grace of God I am free. It is possible, if you will listen to the Holy Spirit. Yesterday, I shared with you how I met someone and because it is hard-wired into me to inquire of the Holy Spirit, I did. If I had not listened to the Holy Spirit, what do you think would have happened? Until the Holy Spirit said kryptonite, I had never heard that word before. It is possible I may have come across the word but never took note of it. But I never knew the weight until He said it.

Kryptonite

Gen.3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

Please read Genesis 3:1-12 and 1 John 2:15-17. I pray the Lord will open your eyes and fill you with wisdom and understanding as you read. May you also grow in your knowledge of Him as you engage His Word, in Jesus Name.

We can see in our scripture reference today, the craving for the things we see [the lust of the eyes], the craving of how delicious it would be [the lust of the flesh], and the craving for how wise and distinct we will be [the pride of life]. A lot of people go after money to Read the rest of this entry

Friend of God!

John 15:15 I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me”

Yesterday we began to talk about the orphan mentality and how it is possible for children of God to struggle with the orphan mentality even in the Presence of their Father. We will continue to identify pointers to the orphan mentality so that we can deal with it conclusively. Read the rest of this entry
