A Snare

Prov.29:25Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety” [with emphasis]

Life always presents us with something to be afraid of. It appears that before every next level there is a fear to conquer. A young person dealing with peer pressure gives in to pre-marital sex. A lady, laboring under the yoke of her parents that say she will never amount to anything. A wife that continues to give in to the absurd demands of an abusive husband. A husband that continues to entertain and endure the damaging demands of his wife. The person whose schedule is overbooked because he or she cannot manage or say no to Read the rest of this entry

Isa.8:13 “Make the Lord of Heaven’s Armies holy in your life. He is the one you should fear. He is the one who should make you tremble”

When you preoccupy yourself with Jesus and you focus on the decisions that Christ would make, over time your life will be all that God planned it to be. And if your parents made mistakes you are afraid of repeating in your own life, move your focus to Jesus and away from them. It is as simple as that. Some people are afraid of commitments. What if they cannot keep to their own end of the commitment? Guess what? Such people end up being what they are most afraid of, Non-Committal.

The Gift

Gen.1: 28Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish on the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”

The second thing we must know about sex is that sex is a gift from God. With God sex is beautiful, sex is good, and sex is sweet. What do you think would have happened if Adam had slept with Eve before they ate the fruit? God instructed them to be fruitful, get busy and multiply. But Adam did not obey that instruction. What if Adam had twelve children before he ate the fruit, God would have just killed Adam and Eve and today, we would have been be good. But instead of getting busy, Adam was just hanging around with Eve Read the rest of this entry

Just The Beginning

Zech.4:10 Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand” [emphasis added].

The plumb line is the tool of your trade. We all have a plumb line. What is your plumb line? Chalk would be the plumb line for someone who is a teacher. A doctor’s plumb line would probably the stethoscope. For people who are into software, their plumb line would most likely be their computer. God needs to see the plumb line your hands. The Bible says, “…the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line…”

Truth Speaking

James 2:21 …Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions…22 You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete…24 So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone. [emphasis added].

God is clear in His Word about faith and actions. Unfortunately, there is this crop of Christians claiming that all you need is faith. They say that once you believe in Jesus, you can do anything you want to do. There is nothing you can do to make God love you less. While that is true, that is only one side of the equation – incomplete. A lot of married people are engaging in extra marital affairs and claiming a new dispensation of grace. I call that reading the Bible upside down.

For You

Matt.6:12 “and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us…14 “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins”

Albert Einstein says, “It’s not that I’m so smart, but I stay with the questions much longer”. He uncovers much more because he stays with questions much longer.  You and I have to learn to stay with questions much longer. Literarily wrestle with the question until illumination comes. We will be spending time examining five seemingly simple questions. My advice is, stay with them like Einstein says, until you get clear answers. And as you wrestle with each one and resolve it, you will go forward faster, in Jesus Name. Amen!

True North

Job 22:21 [KJV] “Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.”

The next thing that the spiritual leaders did, particularly Ezra, was to teach the people the Word of God. Why teach the Word? Ezra taught the people the Word because he needed to show them who they were. These people did not know the nation of Israel or anything about God. He needed to teach them so that they could see the world and see themselves. As a child of God, there are many things that attempt to influence your identity. Things are constantly trying to make you succumb and tell you who you are. Situations Read the rest of this entry

At What Cost?

Luke 14:28 “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?”

Before I surrendered to Jesus, there was a testimony that was making headlines. It was about a university student that had all her priorities wrong; she was evangelizing instead of being in class, at night vigils instead of reading, arranging chairs in church instead of doing her assignments. Is that not foolishness? Is that what God has sent her to do?

When exams came, she did not know anything. So she laid hands on and prayed over her blank answer sheet. The truth we need to Read the rest of this entry

Hungry?

Psalm 32:8 “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.  I will advise you and watch over you” [with emphasis].

One question that is constantly on the mind of many believers is how to hear God consistently. Firstly, I implore you to settle this truth in your heart; you have all it takes to hear from God – You are fully equipped. Imagine you just got an expensive antique radio. You bring it out of the box and connect it to the power source. When the radio Read the rest of this entry

Know The Enemy II

“And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.” Gen.3:15

God is a Godhead [God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit] and I have inherited His enemies. To fully understand the enemy and how it works you need to know the enemy of the Father, the enemy of the Son, and the enemy of the Holy Spirit. What is the enemy of the Son? The enemy of the Son is satan. The direct enemy of Jesus is satan. We see that stated Read the rest of this entry
