Irony of the Cross #3
‘The leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders also mocked Jesus. “He saved others,” they scoffed, “but he can’t save himself! So he is the King of Israel, is he? Let him come down from the cross right now, and we will believe in him!’ Matt.27:41-42
The third irony of the cross is the man who can’t save himself saves others. The man who hung on the tree and could not save himself actually saves others. To the thief by his right hand, Jesus said ‘today you will be with me in paradise’. ‘Let him come down from the cross right now, and we will believe in him’ Will they? They are just hypocrites, Jesus raised a couple of dead people and they still did not believe him. He that has not died, if He were to come down from the cross they still would not believe him. They probably would Read the rest of this entry
How to be Spiritually Rich VIII
‘…Master, you gave me five bags of silver to invest, and I have earned five more’ Matt.25:20b
Lesson 6: Willingness to take spiritual risks. Spiritually rich people are not afraid to take risks for Jesus. Meanwhile spiritually poor people are soaked in fear. The spiritually rich servant immediately decided to trade with the talents the Master had given to him. If you have done any form of trading or Read the rest of this entry
What Do You Want?
‘…Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request.’1 Chro.4:10
The third thing we can learn from Jabez is that he articulated what he wanted. He must have sat down and thought through what he wanted from God before going to God. For some of us when it is time to make the request, we stand before God but we cannot say anything. Yet when you are out of there the Read the rest of this entry
Until You Bless Me
‘He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request.’1 Chro.4:10
Oh, that this will be your song to God this season. That this year will not end until you get all that God has promised. Jacob was facing a life threatening situation. He knew that He did not stand a chance against Esau. And Jacob refused to let God go until things changed. ‘Your name will no longer be Read the rest of this entry
The Man Jabez
‘There was a man named Jabez who was more honorable than any of his brothers. His mother named him Jabezbecause his birth had been so painful’ 1 Chro.4:9
Has anyone called you a pain in the neck? Perhaps your spouse or your boss at work just gives you the vibe that you are a pain in their neck. Perhaps it is your parents that have expressed this kind of feeling toward you. And a lot of people have to struggle with a deep seated resentment. This is probably the reason Read the rest of this entry
Now What: Sustain The Victory Until You See Its Fullness
‘First a leaf blade pushes through, then the heads of wheat are formed, and finally the grain ripens’ Mark 4:28.
God deals with each one of us differently. For some, they receive their breakthrough instantly. While for others, the breakthrough happens in stages. Still it is important to note that the breakthrough experience is different with each new season in our lives. When the breakthrough happens in stages, it is Read the rest of this entry
Men’s View vs God’s View II
And they said to Moses, “You speak to us, and we will listen. But don’t let God speak directly to us, or we will die!’ Ex.20:19
Anyone who lives his life by the mandate of man really never lives in fulfillment. Living according to the opinion of man is operating outside the will of God. The opinion of man is always changing and that is why it is dangerous to base our lives on man’s fleeting views. In today’s scriptural reference, the people of
Offloading Unresolved Pain II
‘You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!’ Isaiah.26:3.
It is impossible to keep wounds fresh and to keep the pains away. Keeping the wounds fresh will only keep the pain fresh. Many of us think that by keeping the wounds fresh, we are punishing the people who have hurt us. The truth is that you are only punishing yourself. The next step to offloading the baggage of Read the rest of this entry
Joy Of Purchase
‘And having chosen them, He called them to come to Him. And having called them, He gave them right standing with Himself. And having given them right standing, He gave them His glory’ Rom.8:30
For every Christian the joy of being purchased is that you have been given the identity of God. Just as the clay takes on the signature of the potter, we have been given the glory of God. Even before we were born, God had already called us as His own. The joy of being purchased is that you are a debtor to no one. Read the rest of this entry
Unfulfilled Expectations From Others
‘I look up to the mountains—does my help come from there? My help comes from the LORD, who made Heaven and earth!’ Ps.121:1-2
‘Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there’ Ps.146:3. In other words, you need to know that people will let you down. It is guaranteed. You don’t even need to do anything specific for people to let you down. Some people start out with good intentions but they eventually let you Read the rest of this entry
