The Spirit
Lu.10:25 “One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question: “Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 Jesus replied, “What does the law of Moses say? How do you read it?” [with emphasis]
It is interesting that when Jesus was asked about eternal life, Jesus pointed the scholar to The Law of Moses. If the law irrelevant, it cannot deliver eternal life. Sadly, this is where a lot of Christians get things mixed up. Read the rest of this entry
At The Roots
Ps.32:3 [MSG] “When I kept it all inside, my bones turned to powder, my words became daylong groans. 4 the pressure never let up… 5 Then I let it all out… Suddenly the pressure was gone –my guilt dissolved, my sin disappeared. 6 These things add up…”
Unfortunately, unlike David, a lot of us sometimes are unable to connect the trouble we are in with the decisions we have made. We cannot connect the mess with the source. Read the rest of this entry
First Principle
Prov.3:9-10 (TLB) “Honour the Lord by giving him the first part of all your income, and he will fill your barns with wheat and barley and overflow your wine vats with the finest wines”[with emphasis].
The first word in today’s Scripture reference is honour and it is a pointer to where everything should flow from. The truth is that no child can bring consistent honour to his or her father without loving him. Love is what makes a child able to honour the father consistently. Read the rest of this entry
Dealings
Matt.15:8 ‘These people honour me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 9 Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’”
You have to choose whether to honour God or not. Honour is the singular proof that a child loves his father. It is not the frequency of the hugs or how often you confess your love. It is honour that is proof of your love for your Father. Read the rest of this entry
The Question
John 21:17 (GW) “Jesus asked him a third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter felt sad because Jesus had asked him a third time, “Do you love me?” So, Peter said to him, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus told him, “Feed my sheep.”
It’s not about the love for the cause or the movement. Jesus did not ask Peter, “Do you love the cause or the movement?” Nor is it about the love for the church- Jesus did not say, “Peter, do you love the church, the lambs, the sheep”? Read the rest of this entry
Grow Up!
1 Cor.13:11 (TLB) “It’s like this: when I was a child I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child does. But when I became a man my thoughts grew far beyond those of my childhood, and now I have put away the childish things.”
A lot of Christians want to remain infants and that is a problem. For some, as soon as they feel they are no longer infants, then it means something is wrong. God wants you to grow up. A spiritual infant for instance is mostly concerned about ‘me’. Read the rest of this entry
Growth Stages
1 Cor.13:11 (TLB) “It’s like this: when I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child does. But when I became a man my thoughts grew far beyond those of my childhood, and now I have put away the childish things.”
God is not only with you, God is for you; so you do not have to wait for things to be perfect before you are happy. You do not have to be perfect for God to love you, but God loves you too much to leave you the way you are. Read the rest of this entry
Hand-i-Work
Eph.2:10 (VOICE) “For we are the product of His hand, heaven’s poetry etched on lives, created in the Anointed, Jesus, to accomplish the good works God arranged long ago.”
You are a unique, hand-crafted, single edition child of God! There is no one else like you because that is how God wanted to be. He did not make two like you; He makes even identical twins totally different. Read the rest of this entry
Picture-Perfect!
Matt.7:11 “So if you, sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. 12 “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of …the law and the prophets”
Parents, are all your children perfect? Or do you have one perfect child at least? I do not think any parent has perfect children. Do you love them a little bit or absolutely, regardless? I am certain that every parent would say absolutely! Read the rest of this entry
Love Worthy
John 15:16 “You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name” [with emphasis]
Love is a choice; choosing the other person. When you marry someone, loving him or her is a choice. Even the decision to marry your spouse was the result of a choice. When you choose God, you have chosen to follow God. Read the rest of this entry
