Our Advocate

John 14:^{16-18, & 20} “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth… No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you. …I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.”

When we look at what theologians have called the dispensation of divinity; there is a period that they categorize as the dispensation of Jehovah, of God the Father. That period is from creation till when Jesus came. Some people say that when Jesus came is the dispensation of the Son. Not quite; Jesus came to trigger the dispensation of the Holy Spirit. The dispensation of the Son is still coming in the millennial role of Christ. That will be the dispensation of the Son if you want to categorize it like that. We are in the dispensation of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the one in power. Just as it is in life, in every country in the world, if you know and have a good relationship with the person in power, your life will be a little bit easier, don’t you think?

The Holy Spirit is the active divine ruler on earth. If there is someone you need to suck up to, it is the Holy Spirit. If there is someone you need to be friends with, it is the Holy Spirit. If everybody disagrees with you and the Holy Spirit agrees with you, you are fine. Why? It is because He is the active divine ruler of the earth. Acts 1:⁸ “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (emphasis added). Luke 1:³⁵ “The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you…” (emphasis added). I pray in the Name of Jesus that the Holy Spirit will come upon you. I pray that the power of The Highest will overshadow you. I pray the Holy Spirit will come upon your business and your career. I pray that the power of The Highest will overshadow your destiny in the Name of Jesus.

It so crucial that we understand that the Holy Spirit is the custodian of the power of God. The Holy Spirit is not the power of God, the Holy Spirit is God. But the Holy Spirit is the carrier of the power. Jesus had to rely on the Holy Spirit to do everything. The Father obviously is Spirit and the expression of the Spirit that proceeds from The Father is who we call the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is The One on earth. The One on the throne we call the Father. The One that came in the flesh we call the Son but the three are one.

The Holy Spirit is a person. He is a person, even though some people cannot even phantom that. We think that the Holy Spirit is some force… The Holy Spirit is a person. Someone forwarded a post to me on social media, it was a question, “What is the difference between Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit?” Someone says, “Holy Ghost is the one with fire. Holy Spirit is the gentle one. When you want to deal with your enemies, you do not call the Holy Spirit, you call Holy Ghost fire!” All sorts of comments, while some were just joking, some were totally ignorant. What is the difference between the Holy Spirit and the Holy Ghost? Nothing! The word Ghost is just an ancient word for spirit.
