The Crux

Gen.1:27-28 “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over …every living thing…”

Today we are looking at three areas of fruitfulness and the first area of fruitfulness for a believer is, the Character of the believer, the fruit of The Spirit. Gal.5:22-23But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” Read the rest of this entry

Faithful = Fruitful

Luke 16:10 “If you’re faithful in small-scale matters, you’ll be faithful with far bigger responsibilities. If you’re crooked in small responsibilities, you’ll be no different in bigger things” (Voice).

Fruitfulness is a big deal with God. If as a Christian, you do not bear fruit, Jesus says, there is a question mark somewhere. The challenge I have seen with Church folk is people want to be fruitful in their minds, that is, people have a mental ascent. They agree to fruitfulness, they like to be fruitful, but Read the rest of this entry

For This Cause

John 15:16 “You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.”

John 15:1I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener.” In yesterday’s devotional, Jesus showed us everything about our walk with God from this verse. Jesus says, He is dependent on The Father and we are dependent on Him. Anyone that thinks they are not dependent on Jesus, anyone that thinks they can stand on their own will wither, it is just a function of time. Not only is the grapevine dependent on the vinedresser for propping, the grapevine is also dependent on the vinedresser for pruning. Pruning is a process whereby a fruitful branch is trimmed so that it can be more fruitful. The grapevine also needs the vinedresser for cutting. Read the rest of this entry

In Relationship

John 14:10-11 “Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me. Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me…”

How is your study of John chapters 12, 13, and 14 going? Remember to form discussion groups and share. As we obey, God will open the Book of remembrance for us in Jesus Name. Son of Man

John 11:51-52 “He did not say this on his own; as high priest at that time he was led to prophesy that Jesus would die for the entire nation. And not only for that nation, but to bring together and unite all the children of God scattered around the world.”

John 11:44And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.” [KJV]. Jesus had already brought Lazarus back to life, but He chose not to do the remaining work for them. Read the rest of this entry

Voice of Purpose

Ps.29:4,7,&9 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord strikes with bolts of lightning. The voice of the Lord twists mighty oaks and strips the forests bare. In his Temple everyone shouts, “Glory!”

John 11:37But some said, “This man healed a blind man. Couldn’t he have kept Lazarus from dying?” Why didn’t Jesus keep Lazarus from dying? Jesus did not keep Lazarus from dying because Jesus wanted to raise Lazarus from the dead. Why didn’t God stop them from firing me from my job? Read the rest of this entry

The I AM

John 11:25-26 “Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?”

Resurrection and Life is not an event or a time. Resurrection and Life is a person. Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life, not a theological expression anymore but a living breathing human being. Jesus stood there and Martha was pointing to a future event and Jesus said, ‘I am Alpha and Omega, Read the rest of this entry

His Person

Rom.10:9 “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (NKJV].

John 11:22-23 But even now I know that God will give you whatever you ask.” Jesus told her, “Your brother will rise again.” And Jesus said, your brother will rise again, to which Martha responded, ‘yes I know, in the resurrection morning.’ Jesus says, ‘I am telling you that your brother will live again.’ Read the rest of this entry

What Will It Be?

John 11:20 & 32 “When Martha got word that Jesus was coming, she went to meet him. But Mary stayed in the house.” … “When Mary arrived and saw Jesus, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died.”

Martha and Mary are both Christians but with two very different personalities. Both interacted with Jesus differently and both got different responses from Him, even though Jesus loved them both. When we contrast Martha’s response to Mary’s response from today’s scripture reference, Read the rest of this entry

God’s Gift

John 11:4 “But when Jesus heard about it he said, “Lazarus’s sickness will not end in death. No, it happened for the glory of God so that the Son of God will receive glory from this.” (emphasis added)

Jesus’ statement is very profound. If you are a child of God, you can safely conclude that what you are going through will not end in death. What you are going through will end in God’s glory. Am I saying that people will not die? Of course not. Read the rest of this entry
