By Night & By Day

John 19:39 “Nicodemus, who had first come to Jesus at night, came now in broad daylight carrying a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds.” (MSG].

Remember, we said previously that the Book of John is John taking us on a journey. Even as we study daily, we will make frequent references to the previous day’s study. Yesterday, we learned that Nicodemus’ coming to Jesus at night was not an act of cowardice. Read the rest of this entry

Like Mary

John 2:3-5 “The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told him, “They have no more wine.” “Dear woman, that’s not our problem,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.” But his mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

Mary was an executionist. Yesterday we said there are four types of people around us and we are also one of these four. The pessimist, the optimist, the analyst, and the executionist. God wants us to be executionists, people that step up and get things done despite the prevailing negativity. Read the rest of this entry

Take-Action

Ps.12:6 (TLB & NKJV, emphasis added) “The Lord’s promise is sure. He speaks no careless word; all he says is purest truth… Like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.”

The power of prayer is not in our prayers but in His answering. Some people are so confident in their prayers. Have you heard statements like this, “When I pray…”? Who are you? It is good to pray and if you think you pray well, praise God for you. Read the rest of this entry

Because

Rom.8:31-32 (VOICE) “So what should we say about all of this? If God is on our side, then tell me: whom should we fear? If He did not spare His own Son, but handed Him over on our account, then don’t you think that He will graciously give us all things with Him?”

Joshua 14:6-12 [please read] highlights two things to which Caleb’s response to the Lord and to Joshua was, “Bring-it-on!”. The first is, Bring On The Promises Of God and the second is, Bring On The Giants. Read the rest of this entry

Surely

Josh.14:6 “…Caleb said to Joshua, “Remember what the Lord said to Moses, the man of God, about you and me…”

God made a promise through Moses. Moses died. Caleb said, “The promise did not die, bring-it-on! Moses may die but the promise of God remains. Bring-it-on! Num.23:19 “God is not a man, so he does not lie. Read the rest of this entry

Posture

Num.23:19 “God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?”

Josh.14:8…For my part, I wholeheartedly followed the Lord my God.” (emphasis added). Wholeheartedly describes Caleb’s posture as regards God’s promise and this is very instructive. Josh.14:11I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then.” Read the rest of this entry

Courage 2.0

Heb.11:34 “quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight.”

David displayed the courage to obey his father and secondly, David displayed the courage to face the ‘Eliabs’. Unfortunately, in some parts of the world, the culture subjugates younger people. They think young people do not Read the rest of this entry

Courage 1.0

1 Sam.17:32 & 37 “Don’t worry about this Philistine,” David told Saul. “I’ll go fight him!” …The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!”

David displayed courage in four areas, and we are going to learn from him. I am trusting that as you sit with God, He will expand and deepen your understanding and insight in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Read the rest of this entry

Surely!

Ps.56:9 “Then my enemies shall turn back and scatter on the day I call out to You. This I know for certain: God is on my side” (Voice, with emphasis).

In today’s scripture reference, David makes a profound statement. David says, “I am not pretending that I do not have enemies. I am not pretending that everything is going to be rosy. Read the rest of this entry

His Will Not Yours

Matt.26:39 He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

The Bible tells us again that in Matt.26:42 Then Jesus left them a second time and prayed, “My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will be done.” 44 So he went to pray a third time, saying the same things again.” After reading this, Read the rest of this entry
