Called vs. Chosen
2Pet.1:10 [KJV, emphasis added] “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall”
What this Scripture is pointing out is that your calling is not sure. It is on shaky ground. The fact that God has a destiny for you does not mean you will fulfill it. I know that this is not popular devotional content and I know it is tough to take in. But if you can open your heart to what God is saying in this season, your life will change drastically.
You are favored but are you worthy? It is possible to be favoured and unworthy. So how do you make your calling sure? Simple; you Read the rest of this entry
Mis-Education
“Above all else, watch over your heart; diligently guard it because from a sincere and pure heart come the good and noble things of life” Prov.4:23 [Voice]
You need to be aware that your resistance to sin can be lowered; so guard against it. When sin is glamorized, our resistance is lowered towards it. So watch the things that your heart desires so that they do not set you against God.
#2. By Implying Everyone Is Doing It: Another way the media breaks down our resistance to sin is by implying that everybody is doing it. And because a lot of people do not want to feel like fish out of water or like the “odd one out”, they Read the rest of this entry
Abba Father
“This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most” Heb.4:15-16
Bitterness has the power to make our minds become closed towards God. And having a closed mind towards God is a dangerous place to be. A lady that had gotten married as a virgin but had no children after years of being married could not understand why her friends that had several abortions, now had three or four children but she was childless at the time. There are things that we cannot wrap our minds around, that make our hearts become hardened towards God.
Hardened
A farmer went out to plant some seed. As he scattered it across his field, some seed fell on a footpath, where it was stepped on, and the birds came and ate it” Lu.8:5 [emphasis added]
Jesus explained our Scripture reference today to mean, “The hard path where some seed fell represents the hard hearts of those who hear the words of God, but then the devil comes and steals the words away and prevents people from believing and being saved” Lu.8:12 [LB, emphasis added]. To understand the footpath, you have to look at it from a farmer’s perspective. The footpath is the trail the farmer takes when he is sowing seed or irrigating his farm. So it is Read the rest of this entry
Thoughtful Speaking
“You will have to live with the consequences of everything you say.” Pr. 18:20 [GN, emphasis added].
The first thing you do in situations of conflict is change your focus and the second thing is Watch Your Words. Do not attack the person you are in conflict with, attack the situation. The damage caused by some words is irreparable. In many cases, even though forgiveness happens but the scars remain. Some verbal weapons should never ever be used. Even in a war situation, there are ground rules. There are things you can do even in a war that can be considered a Read the rest of this entry

“Don’t be selfish… Be humble…. Don’t think only about your own affairs, be interested in others too, and what they are doing. Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had. Though He was God, He did not demand and cling to His rights.” Phil. 2:3-6[ emphasis added]
The secret of defusing conflict is in understanding where people are coming from. Understand their circumstance, their background, and their temperament. I know that understanding can be tough and a lot of people do not know how. So I will let you in on the secret to understanding and it is; you understand by listening before you speak. It sounds very simple but this is a life-saver. However in a conflict, all people care about is what they want to say. Have you noticed? Read the rest of this entry
Keep Pushing!
“Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on water.” “Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on water towards Jesus” Matt.14:28-29
Miracles happen outside of your comfort zone. Sometimes, people experience God leading them in certain directions in their finances. Directions that force you to question the leading and you think, God, are You leading me to do this? You hear people ask questions like, how can God ask me to give my all? Do you know how long I have waited for this break through? It is because the miraculous happens only outside your comfort zone.
Key Thoughts III
“So that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises” Heb.6:12
Our concluding thought yesterday was that the fulfillment of every destiny will require several steps of faith. So in order to secure victory and fulfill destiny, you need to turn these destiny destroyers into destiny accelerators. So we start by replacing greed with generosity. Secondly, replace impatience with patience. Patience is a powerful destiny accelerator. People are Read the rest of this entry
