The Lamb

John 1:29 “The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and declared, “Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (NRSV, emphasis added)

The way [term] John the Baptist used to describe Jesus is very different from that of the Pharisees and the Sanhedrin [the body of spiritual leadership in Jerusalem]. John 1:14 “The Word became a human being and, full of grace and truth, lived among us. We saw his glory, the glory which he received as the Father’s only Son.” (GNT).

If you have a good relationship with The Truth, you are righteous. If you have a right standing with God, you are righteous. John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.” (NRSV, emphasis added)

Three Rs

John 1:10-12 “He was in the world… the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” (NIV, emphasis added).

Recognize Him? John the Baptist and Jesus were cousins, but John had to recognize Jesus. John did not as his cousin. When he saw Him coming for baptism, John said, “Behold! The Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world”, not behold my cousin, cousin Jay. Read the rest of this entry →

Weighty

1 John 4:10 & 19 (KJV) “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins… We love him, because he first loved us.”

Picture this; John 1:26-27 “John answered them, “I baptize with water. Among you stands one whom you do not know, the one who is coming after me; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandal.” (NRSV, emphasis added). John 13:3-5 “Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God. So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Who Are You?

Gal.5:16 (NIV) “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

We are starting today’s devotional by diving headfirst into God’s Word. John 1:19-23 “This is the testimony given by John when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” He confessed and did not deny it, but confessed, “I am not the Messiah.” And they asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the prophet?” He answered, “No.” Then they said to him, “Who are you? Let us have an answer for those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?” He said, “I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’” as the prophet Isaiah said.” (NRSV). This John, III

1Jn.1:1 “We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life.” (emphasis added).

We are still on the question, who is John? Bible scholars believe, in comparing John 19:25 and Mark 15:40 [please read] and other historical facts, that Salome is the third sister of Mary the mother of Jesus, which makes Jesus and John cousins. Isa. 11:2 “the Spirit of Yahweh will rest upon him, the Spirit of Extraordinary Wisdom, the Spirit of Perfect Understanding the Spirit of Wise Strategy, the Spirit of Mighty Power, the Spirit of Revelation, and the Spirit of the Fear of Yahweh” (TPT)

The third Name of the Holy Spirit that we will be looking at is, The Spirit of Wisdom and     Understanding. Isa. 11:2 “And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.” (emphasis added). Freed

Rom. 3:23-24 “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.” (emphasis added).

Being a Christian is summed up in one word and that word is “Done”. It is because of what Christ has done that we can do what He has called us to do!
