Created Things
Prov.6:6 “Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise! 7 Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, 8 they labour hard all summer, gathering food for the winter.”
Just as today’s Scripture reference suggests, we must take a lesson from the created things. For instance, eagles ruffle their nests and push their eaglets out of the nest – fly or fall! Read the rest of this entry
Just Because
Ps.63:2-4 [MSG] “So here I am in the place of worship, eyes open, drinking in your strength and glory. In your generous love, I am really living at last! My lips brim praises like fountains. I bless you every time I take a breath; My arms wave like banners of praise to you.”
When your pursuit is after the person, the passion is effortless. But when you pursue the passion, it becomes elusive and after a while, tasteless because it is all about the passion. When we gather to worship, it is because we want to cultivate our affection for God. Read the rest of this entry
Love Truly
Rom.8:31 “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?”
A kidnapper says, “You are mine” on the basis of power. A lover says, “You are mine” on the basis of affection. You may submit to raw power but you will never love raw power. When a servant hears, “You are mine”, do you know it creates a different set of emotions than when a child hears, “You are mine?” What goes through the servant’s mind when he hears, “You are mine” is probably, ‘one day I will get my freedom and I too will become a master.’ But the child will also say to the father or mother, “You are my daddy or Mummy!” The emotions and the responses are always different based on the relationship. Reciprocal
Ex.20:2 “I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery. 3 “You must not have any other god but me.”
When a kidnapper says to someone ‘you are mine’, the person feels resentment, feels trapped and all the person wants is to escape. Unfortunately, that is how a lot of people are relating with God and with The Law [The Ten Commandments]. We relate with God like we relate with a kidnapper because that is what we have been taught. Interestingly, even with the people who are peddling grace at the expense of truth, if you really listen to their message, they are like prisoners because they see it as entrapment. However, people who are married can relate to what I am about to say next (and for those who are yet to be married, you are going to know this feeling very soon, in Jesus Name): When the bride is taken to the altar, the summary of what happens there is the groom saying, ‘I want you to be mine!’ And the brides response being, ‘I do! in other words means, I want you to be mine too!’ Read the rest of this entry
Just Do It!
Ps.119:132 “Come and show me your mercy, as you do for all who love your name. 133 Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil.”
Me or Jesus? This is one question that every Christian must wrestle with. Lu.10:25 “One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question: “Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus is just amazing! People came to Him with questions testing Him and Jesus always had the right answer for everyone. This man knew the question and the answer already and Jesus simply led him back to the truth that he already knew. Lu.10:26 Jesus replied, “What does the law of Moses say? How do you read it?” Read the rest of this entry
The Heart
Col.3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” [with emphasis]
Whatever you do, including your job, work at it with all your heart as though you are working for the Lord and not for men. Even if your boss is an unbeliever or you are not paid well, you are to put in your best; it is unto God. Read the rest of this entry
Lead-That-Sheep!
1 Tim. 5:8 “If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.” [with emphasis]
God has not left us guessing about His heart or His position when it comes to work. So, we cannot say we do not know His mind because it is clearly stated. You and I need to order our lives after His Word. Read the rest of this entry
Realignment
Prov.14:23 (GN) “Work and you will earn a living, if you sit around talking you will be poor.”
Work is God’s idea and He wants you to work regardless of how much wealth you have already acquired. There are people that have so much wealth that even if they do not work for the rest of their lives, they will not lack. Read the rest of this entry
Israel
Heb.11:30 “It was by faith that the people of Israel marched around Jericho for seven days, and the walls came crashing down.”
The seventh example of stepping up by faith is the Israelites. Heb.11:29 “It was by faith that the people of Israel went right through the Red Sea as though they were on dry ground. But when the Egyptians tried to follow, they were all drowned.” In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, as you take your steps of faith forward, every Egyptian that attempts to follow you will drown. Step Up Lesson 5
Ex.2:2 “The woman became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She saw that he was a special baby and kept him hidden for three months.”
Heb.11:17 “It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him. Abraham, who had received God’s promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, 18 even though God had told him, “Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted.” Read the rest of this entry
