Examine
Deut.23:14 “The camp must be holy, for the Lord your God moves around in your camp to protect you and to defeat your enemies. He must not see any shameful thing among you, or he will turn away from you.”
The twelfth cause of curses is contact with an accursed thing. Josh.7:1 “But Israel violated the instructions about the things set apart for the Lord. A man named Achan had stolen some of these dedicated things, so the Lord was very angry with the Israelites. Achan was the son of Carmi, a descendant of Zimri son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah.” There are certain things that are accursed, they are infested with demons, and if you take them into your home you are attracting those gods and those demons into your home. The truth Read the rest of this entry
Honor Principle II
Eph.6:2 “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: 3 If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.”
God is big on honor. The Word of God says, “This is the first commandment with a promise. In essence, God is saying because I am particular about honor, if you obey this commandment, I will reward your obedience. I am sure you know that the “parents” God is referring to here is not limited to your biological parents alone. There are people that God has positioned in your life with the mandate to labour over you. It is your responsibility to identify them and honor them. For example, your life group leader or your department Read the rest of this entry
Warning!!!
Num.23:23 No curse can touch Jacob; no magic has any power against Israel. For now it will be said of Jacob, ‘What wonders God has done for Israel!’
In yesterdays devotional, we began to talk about curses and their effects. If you have not read it, please start to do so. The first effect of curses is that curses release supernatural forces to limit a person or a place. Secondly, curses are released to paralyze and negate people or places. I pray in the name of Jesus that every curse that is trying to or has succeeded in paralyzing or negating you or any part of your life, God will wipe out today [say Amen].
At What Cost?
Luke 14:28 “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?”
Before I surrendered to Jesus, there was a testimony that was making headlines. It was about a university student that had all her priorities wrong; she was evangelizing instead of being in class, at night vigils instead of reading, arranging chairs in church instead of doing her assignments. Is that not foolishness? Is that what God has sent her to do?
When exams came, she did not know anything. So she laid hands on and prayed over her blank answer sheet. The truth we need to Read the rest of this entry
Knowing IX
Prov.22:17–19 [TLB, emphasis added] “Listen to this wise advice; follow it closely, for it will do you good, and you can pass it on to others…”
When God wants to take you into a new experience with Him, what do you do? I would say the only response is to follow Him. And this is the beauty of relationship; the more you spend time with God, the more He reveals Himself to you. Has God not been beautiful beyond description even before you and I were formed? But as you spend time with Him, as you experience Him and tarry in His Presence, these things become real to you. Then you become better equipped to pick out His voice even amidst a crowd.
Knowing IV
Rom.14:4 [NIV] “Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.”
A lot of people just abuse the things of God with, “God said…”. Keep quiet! Does it concern your responsibility and is it your business? Telling other people about God’s will for their lives can easily turn into presumption and arrogance. Yes, God speaks to us about other people but take note of this – under certain conditions.
#1. If you are in authority over them, God will speak to you concerning them. For instance parents, God talks to fathers about their Read the rest of this entry
Cooperate With God
Luke 8:15 [LB] “…They listen to God’s words and cling to them and steadily spread them to others who also soon believe.” [with emphasis]
Have you made up your mind to consistently hear His voice? If your answer is yes, then you must also settle in your heart that you will obey what He tells you to do. The reason a lot of people do not hear God, is because God knows they will do what they want to do regardless of what He says. Sometimes, folks come to me asking for direction or advice. Learn To Obey III
“Naaman’s servants came near and said to him, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, wouldn’t you have done it? Doesn’t it make more sense just to do it? After all, he only told you, ‘Wash, and you will be clean’” 2 Kings 5:13 [NCV]
There are people that God has put in your life to speak into your life so you can become stronger. “Elisha sent Naaman a messenger who said, “Go and wash in the Jordan River seven times. Then your skin will be healed, and you will be clean.” Naaman became angry and left. He said, “I thought Elisha would surely come out and stand before me and call on the name of the Lord his God. I thought he would wave his hand over the place and heal the disease” 2 Kings 5:10-11 [NCV]. When you take instructions, you are doing yourself a favor. You are the one that will become stronger. Learn To Obey II
“…This little girl served Naaman’s wife. She said to her mistress, “I wish my master would meet the prophet who lives in Samaria. He would cure him of his disease” 2 Kings 5:2-3 [NCV]
You must have the ability to identify an instruction and to obey it. Guess what? In a community, an instruction can come from downward vertical. God can use someone that is under you to talk to you. He can; He is God! God caused a donkey to talk to a Prophet. It can be horizontally. You can get an instruction from God from your peers. And obviously, it can be upward vertical. When God uses someone to give you an instruction, mostly, it is not something Read the rest of this entry
Learn To Obey I
“…teach older women to be holy in their behavior, not speaking against others or enslaved to too much wine, but teaching what is good. Then they can teach the young women to love their husbands to love their children” Titus 2:3-4 [NCV]
The way community is structured is that you always have upward vertical, downward vertical and horizontal relationships. The challenge is that many people do not know how to respond in these levels of relationships. People want to pull out of community because maybe the people in their horizontal relationships are competing with them or vice versa and that is not healthy. Some people do not want to be responsible for other people in their downward Read the rest of this entry
