Special Ability II

Acts 2:11 “…ALL OF US hear them speaking in our own languages about the great things that God has done!” [TEV, with emphasis]

Today’s Scripture reference has two major implications for us. The first is that God has put you in your church family to reach someone no one else can reach. Read the rest of this entry

Why Worry?

Matt.6:27 “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”

Jesus says we are not to worry about our finances because worrying is unhelpful. How many people have been able to pay their children’s school fees by worrying? The truth is that your worrying does not count for anything because it is totally unhelpful. An anonymous writer says, “Worrying is stewing without doing”. I once counseled a lady that had a lot of worries. By God’s grace I was able to calm her down and diffuse all her worries and she was really happy. On her way out of my office she said, “Pastor, now that I no Read the rest of this entry

Transform Not Transfer

Phil.3:13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

You cannot go forward if you keep holding onto the past. The past is what it is – past! So let it go. You cannot start a new business if you are still holding on to the failure of the last business. You cannot take a step forward in marriage holding on to the failure of the last relationship. It will be totally impossible for you to trust anyone again. God says you have to let the past go if you want to go forward. However, the question is, why is it so difficult to let go of the past – past regrets, past pain and past hurts? God is saying you Read the rest of this entry

Cornerstone

Gen.17: “This is my covenant with you: I will make you the father of a multitude of nations! What’s more, I am changing your name. It will no longer be Abram. Instead, you will be called Abraham, for you will be the father of many nations [emphasis added].

Knowledge is powerful. Knowledge brings freedom. You cannot be greater than your level of knowledge. How much knowledge you have determines how far you can go.

Covenants are the cornerstones on which the foundation of life and endeavors are built. When God wants to change your destiny for good, He visits the foundation of your life. Which means, He begins to deal with covenant issues. There are three types of covenant you Read the rest of this entry

Jesus Is Worthy!

Rev.5:7 He stepped forward and took the scroll from the right hand of the one sitting on the throne. 8 And when he took the scroll, the four living beings and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb… 9And they sang… “You are worthy to take the scroll…

Sacrifice releases the power that enthrones and makes ordinary men worthy of extra-ordinary privileges. Every God given destiny cannot be attained without sacrifice. God depends on sacrifice to establish men’s destinies. It is what you give to God that secures your place. You have to pay the price in prayer – pray! Pay the price in fasting – fast! Pay the price in commitment. You have to pay the price in studying.  2 Tim.2:15 [KJV]Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”. Take note; there is a price tag on everything. Read the rest of this entry

Competency

Prov.22:29 “Do you see any truly competent workers? They will serve kings rather than working for ordinary people”

The third way to increase worthiness or to become worthy is to be competent. Competence particularly is a burden. There are so many people that love God and are tongue talking but are totally incompetent. A lady was trying to sell a product to me but it was obvious she did not even know the product. In the past I have made up my mind not to let anyone waste my time; instead I switch off from the conversation. When she noticed I was switching off she said, “But I come to your church!” My response was, “That even Read the rest of this entry

Called vs. Chosen

2Pet.1:10 [KJV, emphasis added] “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall

What this Scripture is pointing out is that your calling is not sure. It is on shaky ground. The fact that God has a destiny for you does not mean you will fulfill it. I know that this is not popular devotional content and I know it is tough to take in. But if you can open your heart to what God is saying in this season, your life will change drastically.

You are favored but are you worthy? It is possible to be favoured and unworthy. So how do you make your calling sure? Simple; you Read the rest of this entry

Knowing III

John 21:22 [NIV] “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow Me.”

Test #3 for recognizing Gods voice is: Does it concern my responsibility? Is it your business? Peter was asking Jesus in John 21:22 what was going to happen to John. Jesus had already told Peter what would happen to Peter, and how when he grows old, how he was going to be led by another plus how he would die. But Peter turned around and began to ask about John. Jesus’ response in essence was, what is your business? A lot of people are quick to say, “God has spoken to me about you”. My thoughts are, “Really? Read the rest of this entry

Love’s Sake II

“Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God” 2 Cor.7:1.

Yesterday, we established that as far as sexual purity is concerned, you are going to have options but by the grace of God, by your determination and by your willingness to be accountable to other Christians, you will prevail. I have been married now for almost fifteen years and I can tell you that by my determination and by my accountability to other Christian Read the rest of this entry

Protect Them

Your sons born in your youth are a protection, like arrows in the hand of a warrior. Happy is the man who has his quiver full, for they will help and protect him when he is old…
for his sons will stand with him against his enemiesPr. 127:4-5 [Voice]

For two days now we have been learning how to take charge of ourselves, take charge of our minds, and take charge of the content our children are consuming on different media platforms. As parents we are responsible because God has entrusted the lives and the destinies of these children into our hands. Statistics show that in just one year, a typical teenager has been exposed to visual input of fourteen thousand [14000] sexual encounters. In one year, the child will Read the rest of this entry
