Cheap Candy

Prov. 18:⁷ (MSG) “Fools are undone by their big mouths; their souls are crushed by their words. ⁸ Listening to gossip is like eating cheap candy; do you really want junk like that in your belly?”

You have to make sure that gossip has no place in your life. I strongly believe that not everyone that goes around gossiping is evil; some are, but most of them are just idle and ignorant.

People lie because they are more committed to themselves than to the truth. Someone has been put on the spot and she needs to choose between telling a lie to protect herself or saying the truth and looking bad.Typically, people would lie to protect themselves and look good. When people do that, they are sacrificing the truth. The challenge with that is, The Truth is actually a person and His Name is Jesus.

Every time you have the opportunity to lie, you are confronted with the question, is it going to be me or am I going to sacrifice Jesus? That is what it is. Understanding the enormity of things helps us see our need for God because we do need God. You must have heard people say that truth is relative. Truth is not relative. Truth is absolute; truth is the person of Jesus. Some people would say the cup is either half empty or half-full depending on how you look at it. They say some lies are white lies. Others claim to be professional liars; they just have to lie to get by. God is saying to you and I – stop lying!

In this world we have to wrestle with different things. Many people have been offended by friends, by employers, by colleagues, by spouses, or former spouses and they want justice. But the truth is we need to recognize that there is a difference between the justice system, the moral system, and the legal system. The only place that operates a justice system is the Kingdom of heaven. It is only with God and in God that you can get real justice. God’s justice is based on the truth. He is the only Person that really knows the truth.

The legal system can never be a justice system; it tries to imitate it but it is not a justice system. It is based on laws that are interpreted by men based on the stronger argument and on prevailing examples that have happened in the past, and based on final authority of the judge’s subjective view or a jury-operated system.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, please help me rise above life’s storms, never sacrificing The Truth, in Jesus Name. Amen!
