Irrational Compassion

Luke 10:34 “…Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him. 35The next day he handed the innkeeper two silver coins, telling him, ‘Take care of this man. If his bill runs higher than this, I’ll pay you the next time I’m here.’”

Show Compassion

James 2:15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “…stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? 17…faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead…”

Acts of Charity

Eph.2:8 (GW) “God saved you through faith as an act of kindness. You had nothing to do with it. Being saved is a gift from God. 9 It’s not the result of anything you’ve done, so no one can brag about it.”

That you are saved today is because someone had compassion on you. Someone saw you going to hell and decided to tell you about Christ and eternal life.

Do Likewise

Luke 6: 37 (MSG) “Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults—unless, of course, you want the same treatment. Don’t condemn those who are down; that hardness can boomerang. Be easy on people; you’ll find life a lot easier.”

Have you noticed that when you are merciful to someone, even though you may not be seeking it, people look for a way to pay you back?
