Just In Case?

“He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more” John 15:2

#4. Cut Off. In order to simplify my life, there are some things that I actually need to put to rest, some things I actually need to cut off, and some things I have to let go. Many of us have what is called the “pack rat” mentality. The “pack rat” mentality is, no matter how full your wardrobe is, you want to hold on to and keep stuff. Your house is over flowing but you are still holding on to things. If you ask them why they are holding on to these things, the Read the rest of this entry

Hands Off II

“And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility. Then we apostles can spend our time in prayer and teaching the word” Acts 6:3-4

Find the things that ONLY YOU can do, then hands-off everything else! This is what I do. When my colleagues bring an issue to me, I send them back. Go and solve the problem and come to me with options, then we can take it from there. If I keep solving the problem for you, then I am doing your job for you. And I do not want to do that. I want to do what only I can do.

Hands Off I

“But select …some capable, honest men who fear God and hate bribes. Appoint them as leaders over groups… They should always be available to solve the people’s common disputes… let the leaders decide the smaller matters themselves…” Ex.18:21-22

#3. Hands Off. To hands off is to delegate or to outsource. Delegate internally or outsource externally, but hands off. The question is what is that thing that only you can do? In your life, in your marriage, in your home, in your business what is that one thing that only you should be doing? Outsource every other thing, delegate every other thing and focus on that thing alone. Again I can take this to different areas of life. In your business for instance, now that things have stabilized, why are you still doing your bookkeeping? That is the job of an accounting firm so Read the rest of this entry

Think Differently II

“Using a dull axe requires great strength, so sharpen the blade. That’s the value of wisdom; it helps you succeed” Ecc.10:10

“Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly” Col.3:18-19 [emphasis added]. Women, if you can successfully respect your husband, it will change your marriage totally. If your husband comes home and feels like a king, it will change your marriage totally. So what should you be doing? Let that be your obsession. Ask yourself how you can make your husband feel like a champion. Think. Ask questions.

Think Differently I

“Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly” Col.3:18-19 [emphasis added]

#2. Think differently. The second thing you need to do to simplify your life is to think differently. Imagine you have a long and complex ten-step process that you want to shorten to a simple four-step process and achieve the same result. The thinking that produced the ten-step process needs to change in order to produce the four-step process. If you keep thinking the same way, you cannot get anything better. To simplify the process, you need to think differently. So you need to ask what can be improved and how? Even the mother in the house has a ten-step Read the rest of this entry

Think Clearly

“So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing” 1 Cor.9:26

Human beings are very impulsive. The average person acts impulsively. They just go with the wind and the whim of their emotions. But you do not have to be average. God wants you to act strategically. God wants you to act based on clear thoughts and not based on what is thrown at you. When you find yourself in situations where things are being thrown at you, God wants you to think and think clearly. When the farmer’s dog is restless and the farmer wants to wear his dog out, he simply takes the dog to a large field with rabbits. The dog spots the first rabbit and chases it. How To…

And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper1 Kings 19:12 [emphasis added]

Elijah wanted to hear God but God was not in the wind, or in the earthquake, or in the fire. God was in the gentle whisper; the still small voice. Many times we are busy looking for the dramatic but God is saying I am here. And because God is simple, we walk past Him without even realizing it. And because God is simple, we get an instruction from God but we do not even know it. When Jesus came, He came in a manger and He is God. He was so simple they missed Him. The Bible says, He came to His own and His own did not receive Him. Why didn’t they receive Him? Read the rest of this entry

Pure & Simple

And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper 1 Kings 19:12 [emphasis added]

If you do not focus on simplicity, you get complexity by default. Simplifying things is a lot like digestion, it is a lot of work but that is where productivity begins. There is a rule called Occam’s Razor, Occam’s Razor simply states that “it is pointless to do with more what can be done with less”. It appears to be straight forward, right? It is pointless to do with more what you can do with less. Sometimes we just waste resources. Without casting aspersions at our ladies, why do you have to say in so many words what you can say with just a few? For example, my wife wants to tell me Read the rest of this entry

Keep It Simple

“A pretentious, showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is a full life” Prov.13:7 [MSG]

The mark of a great general is the ability to strip things down to their barest essential and then focus. As the head of the home, you are the general. You have to learn how to strip things down to their barest essential. Learn how to take what is before you and simplify it. Imagine your wife comes to you, overwhelmed and stressed out. You should be able to take her problem and simplify it. If your children run to you, you need to be able to take the problem and simplify it.

Clear & Simple

“A pretentious, showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is a full life” Prov.13:7 [MSG, emphasis added]

General G.S. Patton, a veteran war general says, “Success in war depends upon the golden rule of war; Speed – Simplicity – Boldness [audacity]”. Simplify your life. In God’s Favorite House, one of our core values is Simplicity. We do not focus on things that are unnecessary. We are simple people. “A pretentious, showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is a full life” Prov.13:7 [MSG, emphasis added]. A lot of people are fake people. You will not find many fake people in God’s Favorite House. If you find, they are new and over time, they will become simple. A Read the rest of this entry
