Be Aware!

“When Elisha was in his last illness, King Jehoash of Israel visited him and wept over him. “My father! My father! I see the chariots and charioteers of Israel!” he cried” 2Kings13:14

Over the next few days we will be looking at the life of Jehoash [Joash]. Jehoash’s father, during his reign as king, did not serve God and God was angry with him. However, he passed on and Jehoash came into power. You would think that a son would learn from his father’s mistakes but inadvertently most sons just repeat their father’s errors. I am praying that you Read the rest of this entry

Love is … V

“Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love” 1 Cor.13:13

Back in the day, we knew this newly married couple and for some strange reason the man had some serious financial problems. It was so serious that they were struggling to eat. The lady came from a very rich family and after a few months she packed up her things and left. She told the man that when he is ready to marry a wife, he should meet her in her father’s house. And Read the rest of this entry

Love is … IV

“…it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out” 1 Cor.13:5-6

Love does not keep record of wrong. Peter had concerns about this issue of forgiveness and not keeping record of wrong. Peter was saying to Jesus this thing you are saying is not practical. But since you are the one preaching it then tell me, how many times must I forgive my brother of offence in one day? Jesus said, seventy times seven times which equals 490 times Read the rest of this entry

Love is … III

“Or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged” 1 Cor.13:5

#5. Love is not rude. Rudeness seems to be increasing with each new generation. But God’s Word is consistent and it says love is not rude.

#6. Love does not insist on its own right. Love is not self-seeking. Relationships that will survive Read the rest of this entry

Love is… II

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud” 1 Cor.13:4

#2. Love is kind. Love is kind hearted. Love is not mean. God wants you to be kind to everyone around you – your family, your friends, your neighbors, and even to strangers. Interestingly, only the first two things on the list [1 Cor.13:1-13] define love. The remaining eight things God listed show us what love is not.

Love is … I

“Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love” 1 Cor.13:13

Love is a person – God is love. Love starts from the Person of God in your heart. If that does not exist, everything you do outwardly will be a noisy gong and a clanging cymbal. “Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love” 1 Cor.13:13. This means that love is the highest expression of life. There are things that we see and say this is love. For instance, a man Read the rest of this entry

What Is Love?

“If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing” I Cor.13:2

The vertical side of love is how God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so everyone that believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life [John 3:16]. It is love that God will call us His own and make us His own children. It is love that we have access to the Father.

“Philip said, ‘Lord show us the Father…’ Jesus answered, ‘Don’t you know me, Philip? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.” John 14:8-9

The quest for God has been on for a while. “Philip said, ‘Lord show us the Father…’ Jesus answered, ‘Don’t you know me, Philip? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.” So if you want to know the Father, look at Jesus. And this is love that God is a Person and not a power. A lot of us can relate to God as a power, some force that can do stuff. God has power but God is a person. And that is so Read the rest of this entry

For Love

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” John 3:16

The most popular scripture in the Bible is, “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal lifeJohn 3:16 [emphasis added]. What actually motivated God to give Jesus to us was love. Jesus said, “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost Luke 19:10 [emphasis added]. Please Read the rest of this entry

Heart Affairs IV

“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him” John 4:23 [emphasis added]

Worship actually starts with what you cannot bring to God. Our hearts are ushered into true worship with the honest confession that we are empty. We cannot begin to enter and access true worship if we do not get to that honest confession that we are actually empty and there is nothing we can really bring to God. Worship does not start with what you can bring, it actually starts with what you cannot Read the rest of this entry
