In Obedience
Ex.23:22 “But if you are careful to obey him, following all my instructions, then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and I will oppose those who oppose you.”
John 9:7 “He told him, “Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam” (Siloam means “sent”). So the man went and washed and came back seeing!” Note that this man could hear, he was blind, but he could hear. So, he heard Jesus spitting and he probably was wondering, what is this man doing? I hope He Read the rest of this entry
Man’s Way vs. God’s Way
Mark 7:7-8 “Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’ For you ignore God’s law and substitute your own tradition.”
John 9:16 “Some of the Pharisees said, “This man Jesus is not from God, for he is working on the Sabbath…” (emphasis added). It is interesting that as part of their laws, the Pharisees actually forbade spitting on the Sabbath. Read the rest of this entry
Act!
John 9:4 “We must work the works of Him Who sent Me and be busy with His business while it is daylight; night is coming on, when no man can work.” (AMPC].
We thank God for His Word; our study of the Book of John has been both revealing and refreshing. We must commit to act on the things God has been revealing to us in His Word. We are now in John Chapter 9 and our discourse over the next few days will be centered on John 9:1- 41 [please read]. Read the rest of this entry
Under Cover
John 8:59 “At that point they picked up stones to throw at him. But Jesus was hidden from them and left the Temple.” (emphasis added).
The stones they picked up were the same stones that the Pharisees and the leaders had dropped because the stones were for Jesus all along. Though this crowd did not join the Pharisees and the leaders at that point, they just stood and watched the exchanges. Read the rest of this entry
The Angel
Judges 6:21 “Then the Angel of the Lord put out the end of the staff that was in His hand, and touched the meat and the unleavened bread; and fire rose out of the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened bread. And the Angel of the Lord departed…” (NKJV, emphasis added).
John 8:58 “Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I AM!” What was Jesus really talking about here? In the Old Testament, the Bible refers to angelic beings using the term an angel of the Lord or an angel from God. Read the rest of this entry
Father’s Spirit
John 8:49-50 “No,” Jesus said, “I have no demon in me. For I honour my Father—and you dishonour me. And though I have no wish to glorify myself, God is going to glorify me. He is the true judge.”
Have you ever been called crazy or a fanatic for holding on to a conviction, maybe you gave your life to Jesus or because you want to follow God to a level that everyone else thinks is unnecessary? Has anyone accused you of mixing madness with your religion? Read the rest of this entry
What Source?
1 Cor. 12:3 “Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.” (NKJV]
Jesus reveals two things we must know about the devil to us in John 8:44 “…He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.” The devil is a liar and a murderer. The devil is a liar, so whatever he is telling you is a lie. Truth About…
1 John 4:20 “If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?”
Imagine someone says to you, ‘I like you, but I hate your children’, how would you take to that? Will the person be welcome in your home? All of us can relate to this either as parents or as a child to someone. Someone is claiming to love your father, but the person hates you, how will you take to that? Read the rest of this entry
The Charge
1 Peter 2:16 “For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.”
John 8:33 “But we are descendants of Abraham,” they said. “We have never been slaves to anyone. What do you mean, ‘You will be set free’?” Never been slaves, really? What about the four hundred and thirty years [430 years] in Egypt? If it was for ten years, then they can forget after some generations. Read the rest of this entry
Premise, Promise
John 8:32 “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Has there been a time when all you thought you knew about life or a particular subject was shredded by the truth? Maybe you thought you were clear on a subject, then you encountered truth and realized that you did not know anything. That feeling or such experiences are actually a prerequisite for growth Read the rest of this entry
