Humble Yourself

James 4:10 “Lay yourself bare, facedown to the ground, in humility before the Lord; and He will lift your head so you can stand tall.” [Voice].

Being humble is non-negotiable for a child of God. God does not overlook it. If you are going to have and sustain a walk with God, then you need to know that God does not overlook matters of humility. If you miss the Word, you will not miss the rod. Read the rest of this entry

James 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.” (emphasis added).

For the next couple of days, we are going to be looking at an aspect of God’s heart for us. And when we let this aspect of God’s heart flow in us and flow through us, nothing will be impossible for us. Read the rest of this entry

Worship Stance, III

2 Sam.6:21 “David said to Michal, ‘It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel. I will celebrate before the Lord.” (NIV, emphasis added).

If it does not cost you anything, it is not going to take you anywhere. True worship happens when we take extreme measures to do things right. No one can be judge over your sacrifice to God because they do not even know where you are coming from. Read the rest of this entry

Over-The-Top

1 Chr.22:14 “I have worked hard to provide materials for building the Temple of the Lord—nearly 4,000 tons of gold, 40,000 tons of silver, and so much iron and bronze that it cannot be weighed. I have also gathered timber and stone for the walls, though you may need to add more.”

Luke 7:36-39Afterward Simeon, a Jewish religious leader, asked Jesus to his home for dinner. Jesus accepted the invitation. When he went to Simeon’s home, he took his place at the table. In the neighborhood there was an immoral woman of the streets, known to all to be a prostitute. When she heard that Jesus was at Simeon’s house, she took an exquisite flask made from alabaster, filled it with the most expensive perfume, went right into the home of the Jewish religious leader, and in front of all the guests, she knelt at the feet of Jesus. Broken and weeping, she covered his feet with the tears that fell from her face. She kept crying and drying his feet with her long hair. Over and over she kissed Jesus’ feet. Then, as an act of worship, she opened her flask and anointed his feet with her costly perfume. When Simeon saw what was happening, he thought, “This man can’t be a true prophet. If he were really a prophet, he would know what kind of sinful woman is touching him.” (TPT, emphasis added). The Passion Translation titles this passage, Extravagant Worship. 1 Chr.21:24 “David replied to Araunah, “No. I’m buying it from you, and at the full market price. I’m not going to offer God sacrifices that are no sacrifice. I will not present burnt offerings that have cost me nothing!” (MSG & NLT)

Centre of Attraction

John 4:23 ““It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship.” (MSG, emphasis added)

We must be big on worship as people of God. Worship must be a huge part of your identity as a disciple of Christ Jesus. The truth is that the most important thing that we do is worship. Read the rest of this entry

Two Sides

Eccl.10:17 “Happy is the land whose king is a noble leader and whose leaders feast at the proper time to gain strength for their work, not to get drunk.”

As long as what you run to is not God, that thing has become an idol. What is your barn? Yesterday, I shared two of my barns in the past – cereal and video games. Sadly, some people think that their ‘cereal’ is better than another person’s cigarette, Read the rest of this entry

Instrument vs. Ornament

Rom.12:2 “Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

Our final thought from yesterday’s devotional was that we cannot allow the media’s projection of what beauty is define our mentality. We need to look to the spiritual truths of Christ to overcome the media battering of what ‘beautiful’ looks like. Read the rest of this entry

John 19:19,21-22  “And Pilate posted a sign on the cross that read, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.” …Then the leading priests objected and said to Pilate, “Change it from ‘The King of the Jews’ to ‘He said, I am King of the Jews.’” Pilate replied, “No, what I have written, I have written.”

John 19:38-39Afterward Joseph of Arimathea, who had been a secret disciple of Jesus (because he feared the Jewish leaders), asked Pilate for permission to take down Jesus’ body. When Pilate gave permission, Joseph came and took the body away. With him came Nicodemus, the man who had come to Jesus at night. He brought about seventy-five pounds of perfumed ointment made from myrrh and aloes.” Read the rest of this entry
