In The Spirit

Romans 8:26 “Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans.” (MSG).

Yesterday, we began to look at the benefits of praying in the spirit and we said we will be focusing on fourteen out of the many benefits of praying in tongues. The first two are When You Pray In Tongues You Charge Yourself Up Spiritually Like A Battery and When You Pray In Tongues You Pray From Your Spirit. Read the rest of this entry

Imitate

Heb.6:12 “Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.”

God wants us to follow the examples of those that have gone ahead of us. 1 Cor.14:18 I thank God that I speak in tongues more than any of you.” This may sound like an arrogant statement, right? You know how sometimes you listen to people and you just know the person has not even started? Read the rest of this entry

About Tongues, II

Heb.6:12 “and not grow lazy. We want you to walk in the footsteps of the faithful who came before you, from whom you can learn to be steadfast in pursuing the promises of God.” (Voice)

Yesterday, from our reading in 1 Corinthians 14:1-15, we saw that Paul did not have an issue with speaking in tongues, neither did he have an issue with speaking in tongues either in a public place or a private place. However, he had an issue with speaking in tongues in a public gathering to God’s people. Read the rest of this entry

About Tongues, I

Eph.6:18 “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.”

There is no way you can pray at all times if you do not pray in the Holy Spirit. If you are not baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, I pray that you will open your heart to the Holy Spirit today and He will fill you to the overflowing. Read the rest of this entry

Every Occasion

1 Cor.14:14-15 “For if I pray in tongues, my spirit is praying, but I don’t understand what I am saying. Well then, what shall I do? I will pray in the spirit, and I will also pray in words I understand. I will sing in the spirit, and I will also sing in words I understand.”

Sometimes, we think we know what we are doing. Or maybe we think that we are just going through the motions, so we do not really consider what we are doing as weighty. Or we do not appreciate the weight of what we are doing. Therefore, we are not as committed to doing it as we should. Read the rest of this entry

Tête-à-tête

Dan. 9:17-18 “O our God, hear your servant’s prayer! Listen as I plead. For your own sake, Lord, smile again on your desolate sanctuary. “O my God, lean down and listen to me. Open your eyes and see our despair… We make this plea, not because we deserve help, but because of your mercy.”

Mysteriously, it seems that God Will Not Act Unless We Pray. Mysteriously, even though God knows everything He Still Wants Us To Ask About What He Already Knows. Mysteriously, God wants us to keep asking about The Same Thing, Even Though We Have Asked Him Before. Read the rest of this entry

In Prayer

Gen.32:24 “This left Jacob all alone in the camp, and a man came and wrestled with him until the dawn began to break.”

Mysteriously, it seems that Some Prayers Need To Be Long Whilst Others Need To Be Short. Matt.14:23 & 25After sending them home, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. Night fell while he was there alone… About three o’clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water.” Read the rest of this entry

Place Of Burden

Luke 22:44 “He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.”

Years ago, my Pastor at that time had this routine of praying from Saturday night into Sunday morning, and from the prayer room, he goes to preach. One day, he invited me and a friend of mine to pray with him. Read the rest of this entry

The Drill

Matt.26:42 & 44 “Then Jesus left them a second time and prayed, “My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will be done.” So he went to pray a third time, saying the same things again.”

Ceaselessly

Luke 18:1 “One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.”

Mysteriously, God wants us to keep asking about the same thing, Even Though We Have Asked Him Before. Matt.7:7Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.Read the rest of this entry
