Eyewitness

John 9:11 “He told them, “The man they call Jesus made mud and spread it over my eyes and told me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash yourself.’ So I went and washed, and now I can see!”

When they asked this man who healed him, even though he had never seen before in his life and Jesus might have been standing beside him. He had never seen Jesus, so he did not know what Jesus looked like, but he had learned Jesus’ name. Read the rest of this entry

Heart Affairs I

John 8:17-18 “Your own law says that if two people agree about something, their witness is accepted as fact. 18 I am one witness, and my Father who sent me is the other.”

Please read John 8:14-18. Remember our discussion about the four witnesses? Interestingly, in this case, Jesus did not even bother with that. He just said, ‘You know what? My Word is true because I am not speaking My own words, I am speaking the Word of Him that sent me. Read the rest of this entry

His Not Yours, III

John 5:20 “For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. In fact, the Father will show him how to do even greater works than healing this man. Then you will truly be astonished.” (emphasis added).

John 21:15-17After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” Peter replied, “you know I love you.” “Then feed my lambs,” Jesus told him. Jesus repeated the question: “Simon son of John, do you love me?” “Yes, Lord,” Peter said, “you know I love you.” “Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said. A third time he asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep.” God measures our love for Him by our service for His people. Read the rest of this entry

Four of Four

John 5:45-47Yet it isn’t I who will accuse you before the Father. Moses will accuse you! Yes, Moses, in whom you put your hopes. If you really believed Moses, you would believe me, because he wrote about me. But since you don’t believe what he wrote, how will you believe what I say?

Yesterday we looked at the first two of the four-fold witness; Self-testimony and Testimony of Another. However, Jesus chose that these first two are insufficient simply since they are human testimony because He is superior. Read the rest of this entry

Two of Four

John 5:44 “No wonder you can’t believe! For you gladly honour each other, but you don’t care about the honour that comes from the one who alone is God.”

Jesus shows us four different kinds of testimony that validate Him, called The Four-Fold Witness.

#1. Self-Testimony: John 5:31If I were to testify on my own behalf, my testimony would not be valid.” Jesus says the first of the four-fold witness is self-testimony. However, if I were to testify about Myself the testimony will not be valid. Read the rest of this entry

Your Witness

Acts 2:36-37 “So let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!” Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?”

John 3:2 “After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus. “Rabbi,” he said, “we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you.” Who are the “we” that Nicodemus was referring to in this scripture? Read the rest of this entry

Personified

John 1:14 “So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.”

Please read John 1:47-49As they approached, Jesus said, “Now here is a genuine son of Israel—a man of complete integrity.”  “How do you know about me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus replied, “I could see you under the fig tree before Philip found you.” Then Nathanael exclaimed, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God—the King of Israel!” Read the rest of this entry

Come And See

Ps. 66:5-6 “Come and see what our God has done, what awesome miracles he performs for people! He made a dry path through the Red Sea, and his people went across on foot. There we rejoiced in him.”

Please read John 1:43-51. John 4:28-29 The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone, Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could he possibly be the Messiah?” (emphasis added). Read the rest of this entry

Good News

John 1:41-42 Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means “Christ”). Then Andrew brought Simon to meet Jesus…” (emphasis added).

Yesterday, I shared with you how after I got saved, I could not keep Jesus to myself. Andrew went looking for his brother, Simon, and told him, so did I. Guess what? Today, my brother is a Pastor and he is pastoring a great church. You never know what God is going to do with that your relative. Read the rest of this entry

True Focus

John 1:26-27 “John answered them, “I baptize with water. Among you stands one whom you do not know, the one who is coming after me; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandal.” (NRSV, emphasis added)

John in reference to Jesus said, “I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandal.” What did he mean? At that time, what is called the “Rabbinic Movement” was very strong. The Rabbis are the teachers and each Rabbi will have students. Read the rest of this entry
