Quiet Time
Luke 8:7 [MSG] “Other seed fell in the weeds; the weeds grew with it and strangled it.” [with emphasis]
To tune-in to God’s voice, the first thing you and I must do is, cultivate an open mind. The second thing we must do is, create time to listen. This cannot be over emphasized.
#3. The third thing we must do to tune-in to God’s voice is, eliminate distractions. Sometimes, even when we have blocked out time to be with God, the constant beeping of Read the rest of this entry
Slow Down!
Luke 8:6 “Other seed fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. This seed began to grow, but soon it withered and died for lack of moisture.” [with emphasis]
#2. If I want to be tuned to God, I must Create Time to Listen. So the first thing to do is, cultivate an open mind and secondly, take time to listen. Slow down and make time to be quiet so that you can hear God speak. Haste is a major hindrance to hearing God. You need to slow down! Unfortunately, we live in a post microwave era, where the microwave Read the rest of this entry
Block III
Prov. 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life.
We have seen how pride and fear can result in a closed mind. A hardened heart is barren! Nothing can grow there.
#3. The third mental block is Bitterness. A lot of people are struggling with questions such as: Why did God allow this to happen to me? If God really loves me, how come abcd Read the rest of this entry
Block II
1 John 4:18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
Actions speak louder than words, they say. So have your actions been voicing your need for God or have they been stating otherwise? The story is told of a little boy who was deeply upset at the fact that at mealtime, his mother would always stop them from eating just to pray. One day after his mother got back from the market, he said, “Mum, let’s Read the rest of this entry
Block I
Luke 8:5 [NIV] “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds of the air ate it up.” [with emphasis]
Jesus explains Luke 8:5 in Luke 8:12 “Those along the footpath are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes along and takes away the word from their hearts, so they cannot believe and be saved.” In order to hear the voice of God, the first thing we must do is to cultivate an open mind. Just like a closed fist, a closed mind cannot receive Read the rest of this entry
Tune-In!
Luke 8:8 “…Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”
In today’s Scripture reference, Jesus is saying something that is very powerful. Jesus says “Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.” Whoever has a radio to receive, let him tune-in. It is a sad thing to have ears to hear and not hear – to be equipped with everything to hear God consistently and, still not hear or tune-in to God’s frequency. Read the rest of this entry
Fresh Fire
Lu.3: 2 while Annas and Caiaphas were high priests, the word of God came to John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness [with emphasis]
Yesterday, I began by telling you how the Holy Spirit used Luke 3:1-2 to ignite a hunger in me for the voice and the Word of the Lord. And today, I am going to show you details of this Scripture that can easily be missed but are essential to life change. Lu.3:1 “Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, 2 while Annas and Caiaphas were high priests, the word of God came to John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness” [with emphasis]. Psalm 32:8 “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you” [with emphasis].
One question that is constantly on the mind of many believers is how to hear God consistently. Firstly, I implore you to settle this truth in your heart; you have all it takes to hear from God – You are fully equipped. Imagine you just got an expensive antique radio. You bring it out of the box and connect it to the power source. When the radio Read the rest of this entry
Proof, Protect & Produce
John 10:27 “My sheep recognize My voice and follow Me” [with emphasis].
Today, we are continuing in our concluding thoughts from yesterday’s devotional. God’s Word highlights many reasons why you need to hear God personally. Jesus says in John 10:27, “My sheep recognize My voice and follow Me” [emphasis added]. So hearing God is proof that you belong to God’s family. The second of the three reasons we are looking Read the rest of this entry
Through Him
Heb.1:1-2 “Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son…”
In times past, in the Old Testament, God spoke to our fathers and to the people He wanted to reach through the prophets. Meaning, whoever wanted to hear from God had to have a relationship with a prophet. But today, God is saying if you want to hear from Him, you must have a relationship with His Son [Jesus Christ]. So primarily, to hear Read the rest of this entry
