How To…

And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper1 Kings 19:12 [emphasis added]

Elijah wanted to hear God but God was not in the wind, or in the earthquake, or in the fire. God was in the gentle whisper; the still small voice. Many times we are busy looking for the dramatic but God is saying I am here. And because God is simple, we walk past Him without even realizing it. And because God is simple, we get an instruction from God but we do not even know it. When Jesus came, He came in a manger and He is God. He was so simple they missed Him. The Bible says, He came to His own and His own did not receive Him. Why didn’t they receive Him? Read the rest of this entry

Pure & Simple

And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper 1 Kings 19:12 [emphasis added]

If you do not focus on simplicity, you get complexity by default. Simplifying things is a lot like digestion, it is a lot of work but that is where productivity begins. There is a rule called Occam’s Razor, Occam’s Razor simply states that “it is pointless to do with more what can be done with less”. It appears to be straight forward, right? It is pointless to do with more what you can do with less. Sometimes we just waste resources. Without casting aspersions at our ladies, why do you have to say in so many words what you can say with just a few? For example, my wife wants to tell me Read the rest of this entry

Keep It Simple

“A pretentious, showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is a full life” Prov.13:7 [MSG]

The mark of a great general is the ability to strip things down to their barest essential and then focus. As the head of the home, you are the general. You have to learn how to strip things down to their barest essential. Learn how to take what is before you and simplify it. Imagine your wife comes to you, overwhelmed and stressed out. You should be able to take her problem and simplify it. If your children run to you, you need to be able to take the problem and simplify it.

Clear & Simple

“A pretentious, showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is a full life” Prov.13:7 [MSG, emphasis added]

General G.S. Patton, a veteran war general says, “Success in war depends upon the golden rule of war; Speed – Simplicity – Boldness [audacity]”. Simplify your life. In God’s Favorite House, one of our core values is Simplicity. We do not focus on things that are unnecessary. We are simple people. “A pretentious, showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is a full life” Prov.13:7 [MSG, emphasis added]. A lot of people are fake people. You will not find many fake people in God’s Favorite House. If you find, they are new and over time, they will become simple. A Read the rest of this entry

No Stress

“But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details!  There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42 [emphasis added].

The way the Word of God is, you have to keep hearing it over and over again. The Bible tells us that faith comes by hearing. God’s Word for us all is Victory. I am confident that as you keep hearing this Word and you open your heart to God, God will do what only He can do in your life and in your situation, in Jesus Name. If you are going to have victory, it is up to you. It is not going to be up to the witch in the village, if there is any. It is not going to be up to that wicked relative that does not wish you well. It is not going to be up to that mean parent that has spoken ill of you. It is not going to be up to your cousin who keeps stealing from you. It is going to be up to you. The earlier you brace up Read the rest of this entry

It Is Finished

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory1Cor.2:7-8 [emphasis added]

Let the party begin. I can imagine the party in hell. The jubilating, the victory stories, the dancing, and the drinking, and imagine them patting each other on the back. The party lasted day one, day two and on the third day they heard the deafening sound of footsteps coming towards them. Who can that be? Everyone was complete. So who is coming? And the order came, “go and check!” A demon ran and came back with this report; “you would not believe it Read the rest of this entry

Secrets Things

If you check the life of Jesus, it is filled with surprises. The way Jesus was born was a surprise. Surprise to Herod. Surprise to Joseph and even to Mary. Imagine you are Mary’s father and your young virgin daughter comes to tell you she is pregnant. After you have calmed down and sharpened your cutlass, you would ask her who the man responsible is. If she says it is the Holy Ghost, how do you deal with that? Surprise!

When it was time for Jesus to choose His disciples, He chose sinners and unlikely people. In summary, Jesus picked Read the rest of this entry

To Yourself

“Then Delilah pouted, “How can you tell me, ‘I love you,’ when you don’t share your secrets with me? You’ve made fun of me three times now, and you still haven’t told me what makes you so strong!” Judges16:15

You need to realize that what makes you who God has made you to be is that your special source. Everybody has it. But sadly, some people’s own is everywhere because they have spoken about it to everyone. Keep it to yourself. Samson was a strong man. He had a secret but he had a girl in his life – Delilah, who consistently asked him to tell her his secret. Read the rest of this entry

Undisclosed

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]” Ps.91:1 [AMP]

Keep your mouth shut! What a way to start today’s devotional right? Surprise! When God gives you an idea, He expects that you incubate the idea. As you incubate the idea, you are generating spiritual power to birth the idea. Keep your mouth shut! Sometimes it is just one particular person, even if you do not tell anybody else, once you tell that person the Read the rest of this entry

Secrecy

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]” Ps.91:1 [AMP]

The second ingredient of surprise is Secrecy; in fact, it is secrecy coupled with deception in many cases. Fredrick the Great said, “Everything which the enemy least expects will succeed the best.” So check, what does the enemy least expect? Everything the enemy least expects will succeed the best. If the actions of the attacking commander are not conducted in complete secrecy, he is only going to surprise himself, and not the enemy. If there is something God needs you to execute with complete secrecy and you do not execute it with complete secrecy, by the time you are Read the rest of this entry
