Kingdom Minded

Mark 9:34-35 “But they didn’t answer, because they had been arguing about which of them was the greatest. He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.”

One of the many things that separate Jesus from a lot of the leaders we know, is His servant-spirit. Over the next few days, we will be learning from this hugely profound attribute of Jesus. Read the rest of this entry

Do’s & Don’ts

Luke 18:9 “Then Jesus told this story to some who had great confidence in their own righteousness and scorned everyone else… 14For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Jesus says we should fast but fasting should be done in humility and secrecy. Please read Luke 18:9-14. Jesus says that when you fast and make a boast of it, when your fasting is based on arrogance, Read the rest of this entry

Dependable Dad!

Lam.3:22 (VOICE) “How enduring is God’s loyal love; the Eternal has inexhaustible compassion. 23 Here they are, every morning, new! Your faithfulness, God, is as broad as the day. 24 Have courage, for the Eternal is all that I will need. My soul boasts, “Hope in God; just wait.”

Our final thought from yesterday’s devotional was this; when you realize that God is all that you have, then you will discover that God is all that you need. Really, until you realize that God is all that you have, Read the rest of this entry

Real Safety

Ps.91:1 “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.”

What made David strong? Was David just a positive thinker? When I am commuting, sometimes my radio is on and I listen to all sorts of shows and the topics can get really interesting. Read the rest of this entry

But Why?

Ps.100:3 (KJV) “Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture… 5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

For there to be spiritual vitality, there is a “making” and there is a “leading”. The shepherd goes through the trouble of forcing you down and then leading you forth, just to restore your soul. Your soul is your life, it is your identity, and it is who you are. Read the rest of this entry

Forced Down!

Ps. 147:10 (NKJV) “He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.”

Sometimes, God puts us in really uncomfortable positions. Years ago, when I finished from the university and preparing to go for my service year, God gave me today’s scripture reference. Read the rest of this entry

His Voice

Ps.29:3 “The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea. The God of glory thunders. The Lord thunders over the mighty sea. 4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic.”

If we know how things will turn out, we will never panic no matter what. Some years ago, in my walk with and work for God, I told God that I would not pray about the weather anymore. Read the rest of this entry

God-High

Ps.25:1-2 (MSG) My head is high, God, held high; I’m looking to you, God; No hangdog skulking for me.

When you look to God and God alone, what people do to you really would not matter. You are able to forgive because your eyes are on God. I want to share a thought with you that has been resonating in my heart for a few weeks now and it is, Read the rest of this entry

Under or Above Pressure?

Dan.2:14 “When Arioch, the commander of the king’s guard, came to kill them, Daniel handled the situation with wisdom and discretion. 15 He asked Arioch, “Why has the king issued such a harsh decree?” So Arioch told him all that had happened.”

There is so much to learn from how Daniel handled the situation with the king. Daniel was a master negotiator. Daniel’s life was at stake, but he was calm. It was like there was a gun pointed to his head, but he was not under pressure or hysterical. Read the rest of this entry

Understanding

John 3:“Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.  Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.”

Daniel could do all that he did because he could see things the ordinary person could not see. I pray, in the Name of Jesus, that you will see what you ought to see. So that you will go to sleep inspite of the storm. Read the rest of this entry
