Look & Learn

Philippians 3:13 “…but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.”

The light forward response to guilt is to Learn From The Past, without the past discouraging you from taking hold of your preferred future. One of the biggest things you can do for yourself is to learn from the past. Different people approach the past in different ways. Read the rest of this entry

Why?

Luke 22:61-62At that moment the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Suddenly, the Lord’s words flashed through Peter’s mind: “Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.” And Peter left the courtyard, weeping bitterly.”

Why didn’t John set Peter straight after he denied Jesus the first time? Jesus was arrested and taken to face trial. John, the beloved, was a local boy of Judea so he knew everybody. While John was allowed inside with Jesus, Peter was locked outside because nobody knew him. Read the rest of this entry

Harmony

James 3:9-10 Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!”

Our final thought from yesterday’s devotional is really big and worthy of repetition because it is so important that we get what James is saying to us. And it is this; exhibiting the gifts of the Holy Spirit and not manifesting the fruit of the Holy Spirit is a misnomer. Read the rest of this entry

Present Help I

Matt. 28:20 “Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

I want us to start today’s devotion by worshipping God for a little while before we get into the word. Let’s sing this song together: Precious Holy Spirit. We’re in need of You, Come purify our passion. Lord, Come and make us new. We are Standing here before You oh God. Just the way we are. Please take our weakness and Let life flow again. You are brooding Over every darkness; You are causing Light to shine from darkness. I yield my heart, soul, spirit, and body to You.Amen! Read the rest of this entry

Treasured

Matt.18:12-13 (VOICE) “…Should the shepherd leave the flock on the hills unguarded to search for the lost sheep? God’s shepherd goes to look for that one lost sheep and when he finds her, he is happier about her return than he is about the 99 who stayed put.”

You need a shepherd and you need a flock. Isa.53:6We’re ALL like sheep who’ve wandered off and gotten lost. We’ve all done our own thing, gone our own way. And God has piled all our sins, everything we’ve done wrong, on him.”(MSG, emphasis added). Read the rest of this entry

Shepherd vs. Cowboy

Ps.26:3 “Your constant love is my guide and your faithfulness always leads me.” (TEV, emphasis added)

Who is your shepherd? I hope that by now you can say Only Jesus! A lot of us know people or are people that travel. When we travel to new places, sometimes we go around the city just to appreciate the sights. Read the rest of this entry

The Process

Mark 2:22 “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the wine would burst the wineskins, and the wine and the skins would both be lost. New wine calls for new wineskins.”

God is taking you through a process because what he has for you is much bigger than what you can ask or think or imagine. Who you are becoming is far more important to God than what you are desiring. If we will yield, Read the rest of this entry

His Definition

Rom.8:37 “No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.”

Golf is a very interesting game; it tests every boundary. I have heard people call themselves all sorts of names because the ball they played started off dead straight towards the hole but turned off. Cursing the ball is bad enough because who played the ball? Read the rest of this entry

Build Up

Dan.6: 10 But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room… He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God.” [with emphasis].

We see from scripture that Daniel knew that a law had been passed that clearly put his life at risk. Yet, Daniel still prayed three times a day “as usual”. If you were in Daniel’s shoes, would you wait a few weeks before Read the rest of this entry

Step It Up!

Deut.1:6 “When we were at Mount Sinai, the Lord our God said to us, ‘You have stayed at this mountain long enough. 7 It is time to [Step up] break camp and move on…” [with emphasis]

We need to Step up in our thinking. We need to stop “stinking thinking” like it is said. If it were possible to project people’s thoughts on a big screen, many people will be embarrassed. That simply points to “stinking thinking”. Read the rest of this entry
