Choices

Haggai 1:7 “Think very carefully about your choices.” (Voice)

Over the next few days, we are going to examine the life choices Moses had to make based on the things he valued which led to the greatness that God had for him. And if we make these choices based on the right values, we too will end up with the greatness that God has for His people. Read the rest of this entry

Place Value

Psalm 40:7-8 “Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.” (KJV, emphasis added)

Today, we are going to focus on the book David was referring to in our anchor scripture because people often get the concept of the book wrong. As represented in the inserted illustration, the book of my life and your life has three chapters — Chapters A, B, and C. Chapter A is from birth to when you are of age. Read the rest of this entry

Choose Life

Psalm 119:29-30 “Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me and teach me your law. I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws.”

Deuteronomy 30:17-19 But if you disobey and refuse to listen, and are led away to worship other gods, you will be destroyed. You will not live long in that land across the Jordan that you are about to occupy. I am now giving you the choice between life and death, between God’s blessing or curse, and I call heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Choose life! (TEV, emphasis added). The Gap

Ephesians 6:18 “Pray in the Spirit at all times. Pray with all kinds of prayers, and ask for everything you need. To do this you must always be ready. Never give up. Always pray for all of God’s people.” (ERV)

Prayer is a conversation; you speak to God, and you are spoken to by God. So, prayer is not just talking, prayer is also listening, and hearing. But God says always pray in the Spirit, never stop praying, never give up. So, when do we listen, and when will we hear Him? Read the rest of this entry

Shine Bright

Exodus 20:6 “But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands.”

So far, we have looked at three out of the four things you need to pay attention to as your light begins to shine. The first is It Is Not About You. Your light shining is not about you. Matt. 5:14: “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.” Read the rest of this entry

Watch Out!

Psalm 75:5-7 “Don’t raise your fists in defiance at the heavens or speak with such arrogance.’” For no one on earth—from east or west, or even from the wilderness— should raise a defiant fist. It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall.”

We will kick off today’s devotional with our final thought from yesterday which is, never ever get to a place where you feel so big that you disdain God by disobeying His voice. A long time ago, a man came to my office talking very big, he said one of his many warehouses had goods worth over two billion in it. Read the rest of this entry

Ready. Set. Pray.

1 Kings 18:36-37 “…Elijah …prayed, “O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant. Prove that I have done all this at your command. O Lord, answer me! …so these people will know that you, O Lord, are God…”

Elijah’s first prayer was not recorded, it was only the second prayer that was recorded. But James 5 tells us how he prayed the first prayer and 1Kings 18 showed us how he prayed the second prayer. So, if you combine the two, we can see how he prayed both prayers. Read the rest of this entry

Wait & Watch

Ps.130:5-6 “I pray to God—my life a prayer—and wait for what he’ll say and do. My life’s on the line before God, my Lord, waiting and watching till morning, waiting and watching till morning.” (MSG)

Yesterday, we started talking about taking a stand and we are looking at the story of Esther, please read Esther 4:1-16. From this reading, the first two things we highlighted are the importance of having boundaries physically and spiritually, Read the rest of this entry

Final Say

Ps.64:6-7 “As they plot their crimes, they say, “We have devised the perfect plan!” Yes, the human heart and mind are cunning. But God himself will shoot them with his arrows, suddenly striking them down.”

Before the enemy can afflict people, he always strikes them with fear, prophesying what he wants to do. The enemy always tries to copy everything God does because he is a loser. For instance, he would say to a traveller, ‘you know you are not coming back from this journey?’ Read the rest of this entry

Compassion

Rom. 15:2 “We should all be concerned about our neighbor and the good things that will build his faith.” (GW, emphasis added)

Our first lesson from the friends of the paralytic man in Mark 2:1-12 [please read] is they had compassion. These four friends became concerned for a hurting friend. Most times, people are just not concerned. Read the rest of this entry
