In Obedience

Ex.23:22 “But if you are careful to obey him, following all my instructions, then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and I will oppose those who oppose you.”

John 9:7He told him, “Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam” (Siloam means “sent”). So the man went and washed and came back seeing!” Note that this man could hear, he was blind, but he could hear. So, he heard Jesus spitting and he probably was wondering, what is this man doing? I hope He Read the rest of this entry

Heart Affairs I

John 8:17-18 “Your own law says that if two people agree about something, their witness is accepted as fact. 18 I am one witness, and my Father who sent me is the other.”

Please read John 8:14-18. Remember our discussion about the four witnesses? Interestingly, in this case, Jesus did not even bother with that. He just said, ‘You know what? My Word is true because I am not speaking My own words, I am speaking the Word of Him that sent me. Read the rest of this entry

Look & Live!

John 3:13-15 “No one has ever gone to heaven and returned. But the Son of Man has come down from heaven. And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life”

What was Jesus referring to when He spoke about Moses and the bronze snake? Please read Num. 21:4-9. The background to this is, the people of Israel on their way through the wilderness became impatient and started grumbling. Read the rest of this entry

Fruiting

Matt.7:20 “Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.”

Gal. 5:22-23 “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” (emphasis added). Just like the growing fruit on a natural tree is visible to everyone, when the fruit of the Spirit is growing in us, it is also visible to everyone. Read the rest of this entry

Love & Joy

Gal. 5:22-23 “But the fruit produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all its varied expressions: joy that overflows, peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness in action, a life full of virtue, faith that prevails, gentleness of heart, and strength of spirit…” (TPT)

Love is the first component of the fruit of the Holy Spirit listed in our scripture reference. We looked at a part of it in yesterday’s devotional. Today we will pick up from where we stopped. 1 Cor. 13:8-9Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever! Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture!Read the rest of this entry

By The Spirit III

1Cor.12:31 “But earnestly desire and zealously cultivate the greatest and best gifts and graces (the higher gifts and the choicest graces) …” (AMPC)

1 Cor. 12:9-10to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.” (NKJV). The third gift is the gift of Faith. There are three types of faith in the scriptures. There is a saving faith. There is the fruit of faith. And there is the gift of faith. Clear Confidence

John 3:36…whoever accepts and trusts God’s Son gets in on everything, life complete and forever! (But) the person who avoids and distrusts God’s Son is in the dark and doesn’t see life…” (MSG, paraphrased, emphasis added)

Our walk with God is a walk of faith. When you step out and walk with God in faith, God gives you clarity. When clarity comes, you take your next step. Some answers are waiting for you on step five, but you are on step two. God says, take the next step, move to step three. But you are insisting on getting answers now. Read the rest of this entry

New Life

Rom 8:13 (MSG) “The best thing to do is give it a decent burial and get on with your new life.”

Rom. 3:23-24 “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.” (emphasis added). Read the rest of this entry

The Exchange I

Job 42:5-6 “I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes. I take back everything I said, and I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance.”

Sometimes, because we cannot see very far, we tend to argue with God. We look at our lives and we question God’s heart and His goodness. Why did You not do this and why did You not answer that prayer. Read the rest of this entry

Turn Around

Isa.61:2 He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.” (emphasis added).

We will start today’s devotional with the final thoughts from yesterday. God is replacing every ash on the head with a crown of beauty. But God does not just stop at the head alone. He gives us the oil of joy instead of mourning. Read the rest of this entry
