His Responsibility

Eze.34:2 “…Shouldn’t shepherds feed their sheep4 You have not taken care of the weak. You have not tended the sick or bound up the injured. You have not gone looking for those who have wandered away and are lost…” [with emphasis].

Ps.119:37 (NIV) “Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word.”

Know Your God!

Headship

Eph.5: 21 And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. 22 For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord… 25 For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her”

Given vs. Earned

Ex.20:12 “Honour your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.”

 

I perceive that the question on a lot of our minds since we began to talk about the fifth commandment is, how can a Christian honour a dishonourable teacher, or a dishonourable boss, or a dishonourable head of department, or a dishonourable parent, or honour a dishonourable president? Dignified Work

Ex.20: 9 “You have six days each week for your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day, no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants…”

 

The fourth commandment is the longest commandment and it has two parts. The first part focuses on the dignity of work and the second part focuses on the blessings of rest. God starts off by saying, “You have six days each week for your work.”

God’s Heritage

Ps.127:3 “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands. 5 How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them…”

 

God has blessed us with families but our families become idols when we forget what they are for. Your family is a representation of God’s Kingdom on earth where righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit is saturated. Read the rest of this entry
