Character
Prov. 11:5 (MSG) “Moral character makes for smooth traveling; an evil life is a hard life. 6 Good character is the best insurance; crooks get trapped in their sinful lust.”
An anonymous quote defines character as, “…who you are when no one is watching.” Examples of character would be, a woman that overcomes shyness to testify before God’s people that,
Who Are You?
2 Kings 5: 2 “…Aramean raiders had invaded the land of Israel, and among their captives was a young girl who had been given to Naaman’s wife as a maid. 3 One day the girl said to her mistress, “I wish my master would go to see the prophet… He would heal him of his leprosy.”
The world’s most pressing need after Jesus, is character. An anonymous quote says, “Character is who you are when no one is watching”. And I believe it is really apt.
Treat
Ps.92: 4 You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. 5 O Lord, what great works you do! And how deep are your thoughts.”
Giving praise is a privilege and not a duty. We should not approach thanksgiving as if it is a duty; just giving Him what He wants. Surprisingly, a lot of people thank God as if it is a duty.
Gains
Psa.105:1 “Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done.”
The value of a car three years after purchase, is not the same as when it was purchased. The reason is because the car has depreciated in value.
Rejoice!
Philip. 4:4 “Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! 6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace…”
We always challenge people to take action because hearing the Word alone does not profit much. It is when you take action that it begins to profit you. Read the rest of this entry
Verbalize Gratitude
Prov. 25:11 (KJV) “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.”
If you decide to give two of your friends a gift for no reason, a gift they neither worked for nor deserved, one of them is deeply appreciative of the gift and thanks you every day nonstop for one week.
In All Things
Psa. 92:1 (KJV) “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High: 2 To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night”
God instructs us in His Word to be thankful in all things. Even though the situation you are in is challenging, thank Him because all things work together for those that love God and have been called according to His purpose. Read the rest of this entry
Acknowledge Him
1 Thess.5:18 “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus” [with emphasis].
The root word for “be thankful” or “give thanks” in this scripture, means gratitude, appreciation, praise, and recognition. God is saying, be grateful, show appreciation, give praise, show acknowledgment, and recognition in all things and not for all things. Read the rest of this entry
In Gratitude
Matt.5: 13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.”
Someone sent this email to his pastor: “Dear pastor, I am so tired of going through the motions. I am fed up with business as usual. Nothing really excites me or energizes me anymore.
In Not For
Col.2:7 “Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness” [with emphasis].
A lot of people are attractive from a distance but when you get close enough, they are repulsive. Have you met people that look beautiful on the outside but when you experience them, their character is foul and the fruit of their lives is unsavoury. Read the rest of this entry
