Woman

John 19:26-27 “When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, “Woman, here is your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home.” (NRSV)

These are the third Words of Jesus on the cross of Calvary. What was going on here? Jesus was taking care of business. Jesus was Mary’s first born and it was time for Him to go. This was Jesus taking care of those who depend on Him because by tradition, Read the rest of this entry

From God

Isa. 43:19 “For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”

Yesterday, we highlighted two things that can stand in the way of thinking big and they are self and fear. Do you know that some people do not see limitations? And it is not that they have not been burnt, or experienced betrayal, or experienced disappointments. Read the rest of this entry

The Big Deal, I

Psalm 119:62 “I rise at midnight to thank you for your just regulations.”

What is the big deal about midnight prayer? We are going to look at seven, the first of which is that there is Heightened Spiritual Activity between the hours of eleven o’clock at night and three o’clock in the morning. Read the rest of this entry

By Prayer

2 Kings 20:2-3 “Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, “Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.” (NIV).

We kick-off today’s devotional by reading 2 Kings 20:1-6. The Bible says that Hezekiah was at the point of death; but the point of prayer can erase the point of death. Hezekiah made a case for himself. Read the rest of this entry

Speak Up!

Matt.7:For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” [emphasis added]

Today’s anchor scripture was a defining scripture for me as a believer. This scripture changed a whole lot of things for me over twenty years ago when I read this scripture, it blew me away. Read the rest of this entry

Right Turn

Acts 16:25-26 “Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God… Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!”

By the grace of God, we have entered the season of our turning point and God will bring about a turning point for good in every life in the Name of Jesus. From the spiritual standpoint, at every turning point there is the point of praise. Read the rest of this entry

Worship Stance, III

2 Sam.6:21 “David said to Michal, ‘It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel. I will celebrate before the Lord.” (NIV, emphasis added).

Every time a king is in procession, they usually have someone [a vulgar person] that plays the fool [a buffoon] that goes in front of the king dancing like a mad person, a jester. Read the rest of this entry

Best vs. Easy; Habits I

Luke 17:10So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’” (NIV)

Today, we dive straight into the habits of choosing what is best over what is easy. The first is, change ‘I deserve’ to ‘I am responsible’. ‘I deserve’ is a dangerous phrase. A son walks up to his Dad and says, ‘Dad, I deserve a new video game.’ No, you do not! Read the rest of this entry

Cede Control

Job 11:13-18 Surrender your heart to God, turn to him in prayer. . . Then… you will be confident and fearless. Your troubles will go away… and your darkest night will be brighter than noon. Then you’ll rest safe and secure, filled with hope and emptied of worry!” (CEV, emphasis added)

Yesterday, we looked at the woman of Shunem and how the fear of disappointment would have stopped her from receiving God’s blessings for her. However, Elisha said to her, whether you believe it or not, whether you like it or not, you will have a boy next year. Read the rest of this entry

Wise Action

Matt. 2:1-2 “Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”

The wise men came from Babylon. Historically, it is said that it took them at least two years to go from where they were to where Jesus was. Two years of seeking Jesus – wow! When the star stops, they stop. When the star moved, they moved. Read the rest of this entry
