Christ Alone

Rom.5:18-19 “Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. … because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.”

Let me tell you the story of a student and his professor. The student completely displeased with his result, barged into the professor’s office complaining, “I do not deserve to get zero on this course. How can you give me such a grade?” Read the rest of this entry

Understand This

Isaiah 40:13-14 “Who is able to advise the Spirit of the Lord? Who knows enough to give him advice or teach him? Has the Lord ever needed anyone’s advice? Does he need instruction about what is good? Did someone teach him what is right or show him the path of justice?

Easter is all about getting up. You may have been down because of perhaps happenings in the world today, or maybe even your personal issues now compounded by world events. But Easter is about getting up. You may be emotionally down, or maybe spiritually down, or maybe even physically down. Read the rest of this entry

This Same Jesus

Phil.3:10 “I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead.” (emphasis added).

Jesus is Alive. He has risen. Therefore, arise and shine. We are grateful to God that Jesus did not end on the cross, and Jesus did not end in the grave. I would like to tell you a story I like to share every Easter. Read the rest of this entry

Done!

John 19:30 “When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”

The sixth Words that Jesus spoke on the cross was, “It is finished!”. Our focus today is not on the taste of what was given to Jesus. What is most important for us is that the quality of the water we give does not determine the quality of the river He releases. Read the rest of this entry

Forgiveness & Salvation

Psalm 79:9 “Help us, O God of our salvation! Help us for the glory of your name. Save us and forgive our sins for the honour of your name.”

Luke 23:34Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing…” These were Jesus’ first Words on the cross of Calvary, and they were the words of forgiveness. Jesus looked at what was being done to Him and said, “Father, forgive them…” Read the rest of this entry

The Journey

Isa. 53:7 “He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth.”

Easter is a very emotional time for a lot of Christians. Not because Jesus is suffering. Jesus is alive and well. But because Jesus suffered. I am always extremely honoured when I get the opportunity to share my thoughts at a time as this. Read the rest of this entry

When Light Flows, VI

Matt.5:16 “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” (NRSV, emphasis added).

Matt.6:1-4 Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven. When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do—blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get. But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.” Read the rest of this entry

Unrestrained Joy!

Matt.2:10 “And when they saw the star, they were so ecstatic that they shouted and celebrated with unrestrained joy.”

The first joy killer during Christmas and beyond is anxiety. Mary chose to trust God and her anxiety melted, and she was filled with joy. The second joy killer is resentment over hurt or bitterness. Are you going to be better or are you going to be bitter? Read the rest of this entry

On Trial

Matt. 1:18 “This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit”

The first joy killer in our lives during Christmas and beyond is anxiety, and the second is resentment over hurt or bitterness. When Mary told Joseph that she was pregnant, Joseph was hurt because he knew the baby was not for him. So, what did Joseph do when he was hurt? Read the rest of this entry

Only Jesus

Gal. 1:10 “Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.”

“Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. So the angel said, ‘Do NOT BE AFRAID, Mary, for God has decided to bless and use you!  You will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus . . . and he will be the Son of God, and his Kingdom will never end!’  Then Mary asked, ‘But how can this be?’” [Luke 1:29-34 paraphrased].
