Reason Enough
Ps.106:1 “Hallelujah! Thank you, Lord! How good you are! Your love for us continues on forever.” (TLB)
We start today’s devotional with our final thoughts from yesterday which is, why should you and I live a life of thanksgiving to God? You and I should live a life of thanksgiving to God because of who He is and because of what He has done. Read the rest of this entry
Worthy!
Ps. 96:8 “Credit Him with the glory worthy of His magnificent name; gather your sacrifice, and present it at His temple..” (VOICE)
God is worthy; to be worthy is to be deserving. We had a full house growing up; six children with two [sometimes three] cousins staying with us. Eba [a Nigerian dish] was our constant lunch, Mondays to Saturdays, except on Sundays. Read the rest of this entry
Fruiting
Matt.7:20 “Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.”
Gal. 5:22-23 “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” (emphasis added). Just like the growing fruit on a natural tree is visible to everyone, when the fruit of the Spirit is growing in us, it is also visible to everyone. Read the rest of this entry
Surrendered
James 5:17 (AMP) “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours [with the same physical, mental, and spiritual limitations and shortcomings], and he prayed intensely for it not to rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.”
Gal. 5:22-23 “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” (emphasis added). God’s Word is amazingly clear. Who produces the fruit? It is the Holy Spirit. We must remain yielded to Him. Read the rest of this entry
The Fruit
Eph. 5:9 (AMPC) “For the fruit (the effect, the product) of the Light or the Spirit [consists] in every form of kindly goodness, uprightness of heart, and trueness of life.”
Gal. 5:22-23 “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” (emphasis added). Read the rest of this entry
Joy & Peace
Gal. 5:22-23 “ But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!”
The joy that overflows, is a component of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. I was reading the work of a renowned theologian Thomas Aquinas, and he said something very profound. He says, “God is happiness by His Essence: for He is happy not by acquisition or participation of something else, but by His Essence. On the other hand, men are happy by acquisition or participation.” Read the rest of this entry
By The Spirit II
1Cor.12:31 “But earnestly desire and zealously cultivate the greatest and best gifts and graces (the higher gifts and the choicest graces) …” (AMPC)
Yesterday, we looked at the gifts of the Word of Wisdom and the Word of Knowledge enumerated in 1Cor.12:8. I cannot count the number of times or the number of people that have walked into my office wondering how I knew certain things, secret things. “If not that my wife and I discussed this on our way to church and we came in the same car. In His Name, I
Ps. 30:4 (NKJV) “Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.”
If someone knows your qualifications [you have BSE, MSE, Ph.D., PhD+, PhD++], does it mean the person knows you? He or she may know what you are capable of – faster than Usain Bolt, stronger than Hulk, can defeat Mohammed Ali. Those are just your attributes but that is not your person. Our Advocate
John 14:16-18, & 20 “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth… No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you. …I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.”
When we look at what theologians have called the dispensation of divinity; there is a period that they categorize as the dispensation of Jehovah, of God the Father. That period is from creation till when Jesus came. Some people say that when Jesus came is the dispensation of the Son. Read the rest of this entry
