Experience Jesus

‘…And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age’ Matt.28:20.

People usually have three reasons why they feel they cannot evangelize. The first reason is ‘I don’t know enough scripture’. The answer to that is what set the early church apart. It is not about the amount of scripture that you know but rather it is about the person of Jesus that you know. The people in the early church didn’t have Bibles like we do; they just had parchment of the Old Read the rest of this entry

Keep Moving Forward

Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and Son and the Holy Spirit’ Matt.28:18-19.

Ekklesia stopped being a movement and it became a location [kircha]. The shift in vocabulary signaled a dramatic shift in emphasis and direction. The church now became a tool for politicians to control the people because the church ensured that the people were united and loyal to the political sect. That was a major problem because that was not the church of Jesus Christ. We are Read the rest of this entry

Ekklesia not Kircha

‘But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light’ 1 Pet.2:9 [NIV]

Once the church was legalized, the church that started as a movement became frozen. What was once unpredictable became predictable. What was once unexplainable, the Christians that no one could understand or predict became predictable. And the movement became an establishment. When you say the word church today, what comes to people’s minds is a building because the Read the rest of this entry

Ever Near

‘…And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the ageMatt.28:20

When we do church and Jesus is not present, that is not church; it is just a waste of time. But thank God Jesus is always present. Ekklesia never referred to a physical building. The church is an assembly, a congregation, a community; the church is not an individual. You have heard people say ‘you are the church’. You are not the church; you are part of the church. The same way your finger Read the rest of this entry

Unique Presence

‘Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the ageMatt.28:20

Jesus is the foundation of the entity called the church. The original Greek word translated church is the word ‘Ekklesia’. Please follow me carefully; I would not throw a Greek word at you if it is not significant. The word ekklesia simply means a gathering or an assembly of people summoned [called out] for a particular purpose. For instance, citizens called out and gathered together for Read the rest of this entry

Precious Foundation

‘Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God’ Matt.16:16

We are taking time to build a foundation because the story of Jesus is extremely important. The story of Jesus is the foundation for effective witnessing. Emperors rule for decades but Jesus preached for just three years. Even though Jesus preached for just three years, today there are people in every continent on earth worshipping and lifting up the name of Jesus. God is saying to Read the rest of this entry

In God’s Hands

me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me’ Gal.2:20

Jesus said to Pilate, ‘there is nothing you can do to me except heaven permits you’. So for all the harassment you are getting, all the fear the enemy is pumping into your heart, you can tell the enemy to go to hell. Your life is in God’s hands. Declare it out loud ‘my life is not in any body’s hands. My life is in God’s hands’. They took Jesus and they humiliated him. They spat on His face Read the rest of this entry

No Excuses

The lazy person claims, “There’s a lion out there! If I go outside, I might be killed!”Prov.22:13.

One characteristic lazy people have in common is excuses. The lazy person always comes up with genuine and nicely packaged excuses. Think about it, someone says there’s a lion in the street and he doesn’t want to go out. If you advise the person to go out, won’t you look like a bad person? That’s the problem with the lazy man. He pitches his excuse so that when you advise otherwise, you look like a bad person.

The Beginning

‘Then God said, ‘Let there be light’, and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness’ Gen. 1:3-4.

If you are reading this today and the best way to describe what you have been going through is a dark season. Then rejoice because the evening and night are passing today and the day has arrived. The man by the pool had Jesus the Sun of Righteousness [Mal.4:2] in front of him and his darkness yet, he was still going by logic. People of God, the Sun of Righteousness is before you even now. I know you are Read the rest of this entry

The Answer

‘When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” “I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me’ John 5:6-7.

What answer are you giving to the question that God has placed before you today? This story of the man by the pool [John 5:1-9] fascinates me and it is new to me every time I read it. What question exactly was the man answering? Jesus did not ask him ‘can you be made whole?’ Yet his reply was ‘the reason I can’t be made whole is because I have a formula for being whole. And Jesus in case you don’t Read the rest of this entry
