Lead-That-Sheep!
1 Tim. 5:8 “If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.” [with emphasis]
God has not left us guessing about His heart or His position when it comes to work. So, we cannot say we do not know His mind because it is clearly stated. You and I need to order our lives after His Word. Read the rest of this entry
By Faith
Gal.6:14 “As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died.” [with emphasis]
Paul says our interest in the world must be crucified and yesterday we discussed in detail what that interest actually entails. However, Paul did not stop there. Paul says, “…the world’s interest in me has also died”. Read the rest of this entry
Die Daily
Gal.6:14 “As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died.”
Two things from yesterday’s devotional that we must not forget are;
- When the life of Christ is “received”, then it “forms” in us and then it “performs” through us.
- The distinguishing mark of the Christian life is not perfection. The distinguishing mark is an on-going fight against anything that dims the life of Jesus in us.
Configuration
Rom.6:1 “How should we respond to all of this? Is it good to persist in a life of sin so that grace may multiply even more? 2 Absolutely not! How can we die to a life where sin ruled over us and then invite sin back into our lives?”
Saving faith was done outside of you yet it was for you. Saving faith is not a “performing faith”; you cannot add to what Christ has done. Saving faith is a “receiving faith”. When the life of Christ is received, then it is formed in us and then it performs through us. Read the rest of this entry
Evidence of Faith
James 2:18 (Voice) “I know what you’re thinking: “OK, you have faith. And I have actions. Now let’s see your faith without works, and I’ll show you a faith that works.”
Works are an evidence of faith. You cannot separate works from faith. Some people claim to have faith but not works and others pride themselves in their works without faith. However, James is saying “how can you have faith without work or how can you have works without faith?” Read the rest of this entry
Active Faith
Heb.11:6 “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him”
God wants us to Step Up in different areas of our lives. We have looked at how to step up financially and spiritually. Over the next few days, we will be looking at a component of stepping up that is indispensable and that is Faith. It is impossible to Step Up without faith. Read the rest of this entry
Dignity In Labour
2 Thess. 3:12 “In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we appeal to people–no, we command them: Settle down and get to work. Earn your own living.”
Do not be passive! It is not a suggestion. It is an instruction. Yes, you have an M.Sc. in Aerodynamics but you have a family to feed. You cannot sit down and fold your hands, waiting for an opening in the industry when you have a family to feed. Read the rest of this entry
Honorable
Jer.17:5 “The Lord says, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man, who trusts in the flesh for his strength, and whose heart turns away from the Lord. 6 For he will be like a bush in the desert and will not see when good comes. He will live in dry wastes in the desert….”
Yesterday, we pointed out that at first read, it is easy to think that God is harsh for cursing those people who are already experiencing a tough time. But it is important to know that God is not cursing them. God is saying they are cursed. Read the rest of this entry
Arise!
Ex.19:20 “The Lord came down on the top of Mount Sinai and called Moses to the top of the mountain. So Moses climbed the mountain” [with emphasis]
#3. Climb Up! Climbing requires effort. For you to rise up spiritually, it has to be deliberate. In God’s Favourite House, we make consistent and deliberate effort to climb as a church through seasons of waiting on the Lord. Read the rest of this entry
Obey
James 1:22 “But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves… 25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says… then God will bless you for doing it.”
To step up spiritually, the first thing we must do is Look Up and the second thing we must do is Listen Up. However, there are two things inherent in listening up. The first thing is to pay attention [be attentive] to His voice and the second thing is to obey. Read the rest of this entry
