Mount Zion
Heb.12:18 “You have not come to a physical mountain… 22 No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering.”
I welcome you into the Presence of God today. You need to know that you have not just come to a physical place to just mark a register or to appease a religious conscience.
Affairs of The Heart
Heart Of It?
Ex.20:17 “You must not covet your neighbour’s house. You must not covet your neighbour’s wife, male or female servant, ox or donkey, or anything else that belongs to your neighbour” [with emphasis]
The tenth commandment opens up our tenth battle, which is our battle with contentment. God says, “You must not covet… anything else that belongs to your neighbour.” Anything else includes your neighbour’s husband and your neighbour’s car, or your neighbour’s kitchen.
The Progression
John 8:31 “Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” [with emphasis]
Jesus lays out a progression for us in today’s Scripture reference and it is – Believe > Obey > Know > Release. There is the believing, then there is the obeying, then there is the knowing and then there is the releasing.
Truth Kernel
1Pet.1:23 “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God” [with emphasis]
We are children of God. The truth of God is in our DNA. It is the seed of God in us. An illustration is, a man has intercourse with his wife and unknown to them, the woman conceives immediately.
True or Truth?
Ps.24:4 “Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies. 5 They will receive the Lord’s blessing and have a right relationship with God their saviour.”
Most of us think it is just enough to say what is true. But what is true is not always the truth. Something can be true and not be the truth. So, the fact that you said something that is true, does not mean you have spoken the truth.
Enough Gain?
1 Tim. 6:6-8 “Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that”[with emphasis].
Key Question 2: How much is enough? Really, how much would you need to make for you to consider it enough money? How many cars are enough? How many cars can a man drive? How many houses can a man leave in? How many rooms can a man sleep in? Building a house with ten rooms is neither here nor there. It is your choice really. If it makes you happy, then build it. But how many rooms can you sleep in? If in one night you insist on sleeping in all ten rooms, what do you think will be the result? Read the rest of this entry
Eye Witness II
John 20:25 “They told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he replied, “I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side.”
One of the striking things about God is that He is committed to record the whole truth about everyone in His Word. Like Peter, Thomas was not going to stick his neck out for Jesus without a hundred percent proof. Read the rest of this entry
Eye Witness I
Rev.12:11 (AMPC) “And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing].”
Yesterday, we established that not many people would argue with the fact that Jesus actually walked on earth. We also answered the question about His resurrection based on scriptural witnesses. Read the rest of this entry
Witness
Acts 1:3 “During the forty days after he suffered and died, he appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God.”
Phil.3:10 [NKJV] “that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death”. Paul, James, Peter, Thaddeus and all the others had this same cry in their hearts. Read the rest of this entry
