Ask!

1Cor.2:14 “The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. (ESV)

There is no shame in asking, you only become better and wiser by asking. Some men have kept their families on the same spot for years, for decades because of ego. If you need wisdom, just humble yourself and ask God for it. Read the rest of this entry

Pointers

Ps.32:“The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”

In the path of life, if you are a follower of Jesus Christ, there are certain pointers to pre-determine decisions when we get to crossroads. Read the rest of this entry

Quality Check

Matt.5:13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavour… 14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden… 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

The quality of your work can speak for you in places and ways that you cannot even speak for yourself. God wants us to work so that we can be examples to others. Remember Daniel? He was not going around with a mega phone preaching Jehovah. Read the rest of this entry

Light

1 Thess. 4:11 (GN) “Make it your aim to live a quiet life, to mind your own business, and earn your own living… In this way, you will win the respect of those who are not believers…”

Over the past few days, God has been answering the question, “Why Work?” In addition to work being God’s idea, work being a tool God uses to supply our needs, and work being a platform that God uses to build character in us, today God is saying to us work because work allows you to be generous. The Second SELF

Eph.2:5 That even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)” [with emphasis]

Jesus gave us life and the life is consistent. We need Him every hour, we need Him every day, and we need Him every second. We did not need Him just when we got saved; we need Him now as much as when we came to Christ, if not more. Read the rest of this entry

The First SELF

Eph.2:5That even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)” [with emphasis]

The first “self” that you and I need to take to The Cross so that the power of resurrection can flow through us, is Self-righteousness. One reason we do not experience the fullness of Christ is that we think we are not so bad. Read the rest of this entry

Truth Nuggets

Prov. 1:5-6 “I want those already wise to become wiser and become leaders by exploring the depths of meaning in these nuggets of truth.” [LB]

1 Cor.10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind…” [NIV]. Failure is not fatal but rather it is common to mankind. Just get up, dust your body and keep on moving. Fact: failure is not the worst thing that can happen to you. So do not blow it out of proportion. I am not saying that what you are experiencing is easy but the Bible says it is common to man. So begin to see it as God sees it and relax; do not specialize your case.

Up, Close & Personal

Riches can disappear fast… so watch your business interests closely. Know the state of your flocks and herds.” Pr. 27:23-24 [LB, emphasis added].

I made up my mind a long time ago that if I do not have something, I do not need it! You might consider that a little hard but the truth with finances is that if you are not a little hard, you are going to go way down the drain. You need to draw the line at some point. I used to do a lot of marriage counseling and I discovered that in a lot of marriages, one party is kept in the dark in one of these four facts – What we OwnOweEarn…& Where it goes. Maybe one party Read the rest of this entry

Adjust Your Lens

How great God is!  His power is absolute!  His understanding is unlimited.”  Psalm 147:5 [LB, emphasis added]

As much as God loved David, he was not shielded from the troubles of life. He still had to fight battles. David still had to overcome his enemies, people that hated him and people that wanted him dead. As much as God loved David, David still had questions that he needed God to answer. One thing you will see consistently in the Book of Psalms is, David knew how to think clearly through tough times and at the end, his joy was  restored. We are going to learn from David Read the rest of this entry

Perspective

So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever2Cor.4:18 [emphasis added].

Yesterday, we pointed out that problems attempt to press us into defeat, make us perplexed until we are depressed, and hunt us down into a dark place. But Paul gave us the secret to rising above which is to fix our gaze on God and not what we can see now. So what is the problem right now? Is it financial? It will soon be gone. Is it marital? It will soon be gone. Is it emotional? It will soon be gone. Are you having problems with raising your children? Even that will also soon Read the rest of this entry
