Advantage III

John 14:16-18, & 20 “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth… No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you. …I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.”

The fifth benefit of the Holy Spirit is, The Holy Spirit Gives Life To Our Physical Body. The Holy Spirit does not just give spiritual life, He makes you strong and powerful in your physical body just like Samson. Judges 15:14As Samson arrived at Lehi, the Philistines came shouting in triumph. But the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon Samson, and he snapped the ropes on his arms as if they were burnt strands of flax, and they fell from his wrists.” Read the rest of this entry

To Change

Rom.12:2 “Don’t let the world squeeze you into its mould, but let God remake you so that your whole attitude of mind is changed.” (Phillips, paraphrased, emphasis added).

Today’s devotion begins with a question. What would you like to change about yourself? For those who are married, what will your spouse like to change about you? What difference can resurrection power make in your life? Read the rest of this entry

To Cancel

2 Cor.5:17 “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. ‘he old life is gone; a new life has begun!”

How does this resurrection power benefit me? Over the next few days, God Himself will unpack this truth and help us see clearly the difference resurrection power makes in our lives. The first thing is, Resurrection Power Is The Power To Cancel Your Past. Read the rest of this entry

New Life

Rom 8:13 (MSG) “The best thing to do is give it a decent burial and get on with your new life.”

Rom. 3:23-24 “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.” (emphasis added). Read the rest of this entry

Done Vs. Do

Gal. 2:20 (KJV) I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

The better life that Jesus offers is a life not only filled with meaning, It Is A Life That Is Freed By Grace. What is grace? I like to use an equation for grace and it is; Grace = favour + mercy. A life freed [set free] by grace is a life freed by favour and mercy. Read the rest of this entry

Mercy & Help

Isaiah 41:10 “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

God can help you. In fact, God wants to help you and God wants to be with you. So, we move from, Can God help me? to God can help me, and then because we are convinced that God can help us, we move to, “God must help me”. Read the rest of this entry

True Help

John 11:21 & 40 “Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died. Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?”

Martha and Mary had this Jesus that they loved, but the question on their minds was, “Can He help us?” They knew Jesus wanted to help, but they were not sure if He could help. Their dilemma was they were not sure if Jesus could help. Read the rest of this entry

The Focus

Ex.33:19 “The Lord replied, “I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will call out my name, Yahweh, before you. For I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose.” [with emphasis]

What you do tells a story of what you actually believe. A man told his pastor that heaven and hell cannot really exist. “Why do you say that?”, his pastor asked. Read the rest of this entry

Hessed

Ps.63:3 (NKJV) “Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You.”

The other sheepdog – mercy is the Hebrew word Hesed [when the person from whom I have a right to expect nothing, gives me everything]. Theologians tell us that it is one of the richest words in Hebrew. Read the rest of this entry

God-Cover

Ps.23:6 (NKJV) “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.

When you consider Psalm 23 in its entirety and verse six in particular, it seems like God is an insurance policy. It is like God telling us that we have been insured, we have a cover. Read the rest of this entry
